It's interesting the number of series I seem to read that start off meh or ok and get significantly better as the series goes on. 39 Clues. Sisters Grimm. Percy Jackson and the Olympians (although this one started off significantly better than the other series as I didn't start off disliking it/being super annoyed by the characters). And now A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Given that the author/narrator is constantly like, "This is a horrible book without a happy ending. You should stop reading right now" it will be interesting to see how to series ends. I just finished book 9 of 13. I am sad that the last book, unlike all the other books, doesn't have a title with alliteration. Although the 12th book is called "The Penultimate Peril," which is pretty awesome. Also, there is singing in my audiobook version. I don't know if the songs are also in the books or not though.

On an unrelated note, whenever I read something that is like, "Look at this common trend in games/books/movies/whatever," it makes me want to write something the exact opposite of that.
