Spring fever

I've been getting out for walks with the warmer weather. Some days I go by myself for a little meditation time and sometimes I have company. Haley and Daniel accompanied me today. Yesterday we went for a family walk at Beaver Lake. We saw a lot of tracks but no animals except chipmunks and squirrels.

I'm on vacation from school this week and have been studying daily. Our clinical instructor has heard our pleas for help and has given us homework for over the vacation in an attempt to help us. We all continue to be quite disappointed with our instructor but there is little we can do about it since she has the administrator wrapped around her little finger. The only thing we can do is to study on our own and hope we can pass. We have a new student in our class now. She had been in last year's part-time class and failed pharmacology, so they allowed her to come back this semester and finish up. She's been great in helping us out and wants to start a study group. She also gave us the assessment id's and passwords for our computer testing we need to have done as our instructor has ignored our weekly requests for this information.

We got our unit grades a few weeks ago. I had a 98 in pharmacology and 86 in med-surge. I pointed out to the instructor that it was impossible that I got an 86 in med-surge. She said she would check on it but never did. I finally made her check on it last week. I took a look at my grades, mostly 100's with some high 90's thrown in and 3 grades in the high 80's....so I'm no math wiz, but how does that compute to an 86? The grades in the 80's were all tests where I had found she had marked some of my answers wrong when the rest of the class had the exact same answers but they were marked right. When I had asked her to change my grade, her answer was "Ask me when I can do something about it." Nice. I noticed that one of the grades in the 80's was my final med-surge grade and I know that I had only gotten 1 question wrong on that test. She insisted that the grade was correct, so I made her pull the test. Sure enough, my grade was a 98. She said she was unable to change the grade at the time because the computers were down. We'll have to see if it has been changed next week.

What I also noticed while looking at my grades was that one of the women in the class ended up with a unit grade of 100 in med-surge. There is no way in hell that this woman got that grade as we all know for a fact that there were several tests she bombed. She happens to be one of the instructors pets. I'm beginning to think that the instructor just picks numbers out of the air and gives them for grades instead of actually adding up the grades.

We're switching to Time Warner for our cable, phone and computer on Thursday. We've been feuding with Dish Network and Verizon for years now and have grown tired of dealing with them. I went to pay my Verizon bill earlier this month and found that I am being charged $95/month for phone and computer - a far cry from the $60+ I had signed up for. I see that they are still charging me double for services on the computer and have added back in call waiting and other junk on the phone that I requested be taken off several months ago. Dish Network has 100 channels that consist of either sports or the same shows I have seen over and over and over and over for years. Chris called TW and we can get cable, phone and computer services for $100/month, so we're saving over $60/month.

The timer for dinner just went off, so I'd better head back upstairs and pop the remainder of the food in.
