Wow it's been a long time since I posted on here. Where do the days/months/years go??
Actually, I rather think they flash past when you are too busy LIVING to think about them. So, what's been happening in my life recently?
Well, 3 years ago (is it really that long?) I moved away from Lancashire and back down to the Midlands to be near to my daughter and assorted other friends. The sad thing was leaving behind a few people in Lancashire, but apart from that it has proved to be an excellent thing indeed.
I immediately joined the local U3A and signed up for Spanish classes. Tried the Art but wasn't comfortable with that group to begin with, do the Croquet in the summer, the Quiz once a month, and then last year we started a Drama group of which I am c0-leader.(that's where all the mad people are!!)
Almost 2 years ago, I went back on a dating website to find a friend of my own age and that has worked out extremely well. He is a perfect gentleman and we do lots of things together. At first, I thought that the fact he lives 75 miles away would be a downside, but as it turns out we stay with each other in turn and that provides a series of "mini holidays" for both of us. We decided from the off to be pals/buddies and not "friends with benefits" and that seems to be working out really well. We have been on holiday together 3 times now, staying in cottages in varioous parts of GB and that has proved really successful. The last time being earlier this month when we stayed in a gorgeous cottage near to Ludlow in Shropshire. We enjoyed it so much down there that we have booked to go back for a fortnight in October!!!
What else?? Oh yes, I went along to a community outreach thing at the local Church (250 steps from my door) where they feed the hungry once a week and found myself suddenly involved in all kinds of activities with them. So now I run the Knit andNatter club there on Wed afternoons, help with the Craft afternoons several times a year, and even go to the services sometimes (if they want me to do something:- refreshments/welcoming/readings/whatever). They are such a nice warm group of people that it is a pleasure to be a helper there - although I am still waiting for the thunderbolt to strike me down whenever i enter!!!
And then a couple of months ago I was voted in to be Group Leader Co-ordinator with the U3A (which also involves being on the committee and going to 2 meetings a month)...............and if you factor in the monthly Board Games with the Ingress crowd and occasional weekends of Board Gaming with daughters crowd etc etc there is never a dull moment.
Oh, yes, and did I mention the gym and the Personal Trainer???
And now today, I wake up to discover I have just become 72.
If the next tranche of my life is as exciting and fun as the last one has been I will have nothing at all to complain about. I keep crossing my fingers for continued good health so that i can keep on going with it all.
