SOOOOOO this turning out to be an AMAZING week for me and I just wanted to share it with all my friends :D :D

First, a bit of background.  I as many of you already know, I really really really want to go to the University of Colorado at Boulder for Grad school.  So, I was looking for something that could get me out to the state so I could experience the cold and the elevation and stuff.  The SCA (Student Conservation Association) was advertised in the political science office where I meet with my thesis advisor so I decided to check it out.  They offer to pay for housing, food, transportation, and incidentals for you to go to internships in national parks across the countries.  So, I put in my application for a couple online and one of them started reviewing my application a couple weeks ago.

Friday:  The contact for the internship emails me and  says she's checking my references and might be in touch later.  My professor sends me the reference I posted before which made me happy :D

Monday: The best day.  The lady emails me again and says that though she can't officially offer me the position since she needs to do a phone interview, but I've pretty much got it.  i was worried about paying for summer housing on campus if I wasn't using it so I called housing and they said that I could get out of the contract without penalty since I have the internship!  Then I called Disney to see if they would let me off, and they will without making me lose my job or my healthcare through them!  Then I had my phone interview and I got the internship!

Tuesday: Turned in my outline for Sustainability class, which I totally rocked.  Then I talked with my college's internship coordinator and he remembered me from LAST SUMMER!  He also said he was so impressed with my "initiative" that he would give me a reference letter if I ever needed one.  (I figure he's had to put up with a lot of lazy people if was that impressed >.>)

Today: My mom wakes me up at 10:00 (I slept in :P) with a call really excited.  She said that she had been talking to a woman who worked on the Board of Directors for her Humane Society (they love her on the Board) and she was telling the woman about my internship.  The woman then says that she personally knows the president of the Amazon Conservation Team, which works with indigenous peoples to preserve the rainforest.  She also says that if I wanted to after I graduated, she would talk to him and see if she could get me involved with them!!  HOW FREAKING AWESOME!!

So, totally fantastic week so far.  Hopefully it'll keep this up :D

In other news, I want to see "The Other Boleyn Girl" really bad :D

life, the future!, volunteering, ucf
