If you haven't heard about it from any other social media I have, I got the scholarship I applied for. :D Got a very nice phone call on Thursday evening from a member of CFUW-Edmonton (also a BMC alum!) letting me know I got it. Now I can afford to go to Japan this summer! Still waiting for final confirmation on the job here at UofA, but now I can put some pressure on the guy making the decision since I do have to plan my trip.
Without further ado, my Done is Good list for this semester:
-Classes (1 left on Wednesday)
-Setsuwa Project Presentation (Wednesday)
-Kanbun Paper (Due 4/17 or thereabouts)
-Historiography Bibliography (Due 4/25)
-Historiography Paper (Due 4/25)
-Setsuwa Paper (Due 4/25)
-Residence Services Video (2 to do before end of April)
-Curriculum Development Binder (By end of April?)
-Department Colloquium Presentation (4/16)
-Plan Japan Trip!
The last one will begin after the Easter weekend. I need to talk to my advisor and contact the professor at Todai I'd be working with to see when he is available. After I get an idea of his availability (and if I can find out about my job), I can start planning logistics. Current plan is May/June in Japan, then Edmonton July/August for teaching. Now it looks like I may not be home much if at all this summer, but we'll see.
More details to come!
PS: Since I didn't get a chance to buy souvenirs for people last time (stupid earthquake), I'll be sure to this time!
