Okay. So I'm standing by the refrigerator in
my vegetarian co-op and I open the door to see what I can eat and I see, what do I see, but some sausages. Apparently, I discover, we have tons of sausages. And chicken. Vast quantities of meat have stuffed the co-op to the gills -- all of it left over from a local art

1. I haven't had meat in ten years, so introducing it into my system now would almost certainly make me very sick. I should know; I accidentally ate something with beef dripping in it a couple years ago and was in serious pain for the rest of the night.
2. If I ate any meat now, I might be tempted to do it again.
3. I think that factory farms are terrible on a bunch of levels, but I also object to eating animals because they are living things whose deaths aren't necessary for my survival. The fact that they're already dead doesn't change the fact that I don't need to eat them. I wouldn't eat my cat if someone else had already killed and cooked him.
4. The older I get, the more the thought of slicing up the muscle tissue of a cow grosses me out.
Mostly, though, I wouldn't eat meat because I don't eat meat.
