Vegetarian Deconstruction

I have a few reasons for not eating it.
1. I haven't had meat in ten years, so introducing it into my system now would almost certainly make me very sick. I should know; I accidentally ate something with beef dripping in it a couple years ago and was in serious pain for the rest of the night.
2. If I ate any meat now, I might be tempted to do it again.
3. I think that factory farms are terrible on a bunch of levels, but I also object to eating animals because they are living things whose deaths aren't necessary for my survival. The fact that they're already dead doesn't change the fact that I don't need to eat them. I wouldn't eat my cat if someone else had already killed and cooked him.
4. The older I get, the more the thought of slicing up the muscle tissue of a cow grosses me out.

Mostly, though, I wouldn't eat meat because I don't eat meat.

What of the voracious tearing and rending into the flesh of another being? That Huntress-Echo is not good or evil, just it's own. Black/White/Gray? Ha! A deep, beautiful green, that one. And let's not forget the wonderful marbled blue of pure protein consumption. But you seem to have everyone outfoxed on the whole "eating" issue. Lydia. Subverter of mammals ( ... )

I was just having a discussion about the dangers of Manicheanism and telling someone not to look at the world in black and white, because the world isn't just grayscale but full color. So this comment tickled me ( ... )
