So Wednesdays are usually the only day of the week that I open the store I work at. Today was no exception.... until I reached the mall parking lot and discovered an exceptional amount of emergency vehicles all over the place. There were lots of police cruisers, several fire trucks, a smattering of ambulances, a "Heavy Rescue" vehicle, and a "Hazardous [something or other]" truck. Firemen were hanging out in front of my usual entrance, there was a ladder up to the roof and half of the parking lot seemed to be taped off. It was somewhat alarming. After trying to wander to another entrance (all of them were either locked or blocked), I found a police officer that was able to tell me that no one was allowed in the mall. After retreating to my parents' house, I discover that there was an electrical fire in the roof of the DMV, the mall had been evacuated, etc. They finally started letting people in around 10:30, but it was at least another hour before many stores had any power. By the time I left work at almost 6pm, there were still closed storefronts. Very exciting!
In other, much better, news: my little sister is coming to visit! She's coming tomorrow, which is awesome. It's been over a year since I've seen her. There's a lot of drama in her life right now and I know she's been homesick, so I'm really glad she could get away for a visit. :D
