I'll second that. And furthermore, what people fail to realize, is that YOU don't have to like your family. Being married is great, because - and please, let me stress and re-stress and emphasize this:

You are "officially" an adult now. And part of this process means that you are very soon going to have to stand up to your parents. It's a part of the process. This may mean losing some of the benefits temporarily, like if they're helping to pay for bills or whatnot, but you need to cut the strings, and say "Look, this is MY life, and I'm going to live it like this... and if you want a relationship with me, you're going to meet my on MY terms. This is how you WILL and WILL NOT speak to me and treat me."

Then, stick to your guns. Make take a little while, but your life will be tremendously better for it. You don't have to stop listening to their advice, you do have the right to tell them, "Thanks, but I'm going to do it this way. Support me if you wish, but if you don't, then that's your opinion and I don't want to hear about it."

And again, stick to your guns.

They'll respect you sooner or later, and your life will be much easier for it.

I only say these things because your parents seem to be the overbearing type who are going to critique everything you do - your choice in church, religion, dress, job, child-rearing techniques, etc...
