What sucks is when someone steals your bike.
I came out of yoga this morning to see, where my bike had been, only the lock and cut cable dangling from the fence where I'd locked it up. I stared hard, as if my sheer disbelief might make it come back. It did not, and neither did my oh-so-awesome rear basket that I got for Christmas this year, so I unlocked my molested lock and carried it home in my hand, so that anyone who observed me crying would know why.
My sweet fiancee took me to two different bike shops to look at new ones. My rationale: 1) Thanks to recently booked wedding photo gig I had some money on hand. 2) If I don't get a new bike, I'll be mad about this every day that I walk to work instead of riding. The guys at City Bikes were super, and though we still went to Revolution to take a look, City Bikes won by having a bike I liked, it was in stock, and they did not attempt to upsell me.
I also bought a helmet, Kristi. :-)
So it sucks when someone steals your bike, but I have a new one, and will be a lot more careful about where and how I lock it up from now on.
