day 22 : Mad : 8/10/12

Title: Madder than that
Fandom: Crossover Primeval and Syfy's Alice
Characters/Pairings: Connor/Abby, [David]Hatter/Alice
About: Set post S5. For the basis of this crossover (and my headcannon for my crossover fic temple twins), The parts of the movie Alice that took place in our world took place in Vancouver, Canada, and in 2011. After S5 Connor goes to the Tank - Vancouver's ARC - to help out, and gets kidnapped by Dodo. Hatter and Alice bump into Abby, who's come to Canada because they lost contact with Connor. Basically they rescue Connor and then a Trex ends up coming through an anomaly into Vancouver and fights with a Jabberwocky who followed them through the lookign glass. The Vancouver's team plus Abby, Alice, [David] Hatter and Connor get the Trex back through the anomaly and lock it as well as force the jabberwocky back through the looking glass. And then comes a revelation - because two nearly identical men also have matching necklaces with matching rings...

Connor looked at the other man, raising an eyebrow and shaking his head. A grin on his face matched the other’s perfectly.

“You’re completely mad!”

“That’s wha’ me girlfriend said.” Their voices were identical, and amusement danced in the matching pair of dark brown eyes.

“But it’s true?” That was Abby speaking, and Connor turned to smile at her. “Alice told me.”

“Yes, the only possibility’s that Connor is me twin brother.” Hatter said. The only visible difference between the two was Hatter’s guyliner and different styling of his hair and clothes. Abby looked at him now, really looked at him, and then glanced back at Connor.

“This is so weird.” Abby slipped her hand into her fiance’s, chuckling a little.

“You could say that again!” They turned to see Alice hurrying over, laughing.

“And you’re really from Wonderland?”

“We both are - by ‘alves at least.”

“Right… I can’t believe Da’ was from Wonderland.” Connor breathed, grinning. Abby mock-groaned.

“You’re going to be completely insufferable, aren’t you Conn?” Abby teased him.

“Nah…”

” ‘m not ‘mad’, by th’ way.” Hatter piped up, plopping a brown fedora on his head. Alice snorted.

“Right.” She drawled, smirking, then shook her head. “No, really. David Hatter Temple, you’re not mad. Not Charlie-the-white-knight crazy, at least.”

“Nothin’s madder than rips in time and space, mirrors that connect ta other worlds, and jabberwocky fightin’ dinosaurs.” Connor joked.

“Charlie’s a bit madder th’n tha’.” Hatter commented.

“Oh yeah - have you read the Harry Potter series - Abby, Connor?” Alice asked.

“What, y’ don’t think I would’ve read it?” Hatter whined.

“Well, have you?”

“No.”

“We-ell…”

“What were you trying to say Alice? We’ve both read the series, yes.” Abby interrupted, holding back laughter.

“Huh? Oh, right. You know the Trelawney character? Charlie’s a bit like her, and a lot of it’s bluster, but he did help a couple of times.”

“He does the ‘ole exaggerated ‘see beyond’ kind o’ thing?” Connor asked.

“Yep!” Hatter said, nodding. He mimed Charlie for a second and they burst into laughter again.

“So, now that we’re sure me brother’s not completely barmy, c’n we go back to the Tank?” Connor suggested.

“Conn?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m glad I found ya.” Hatter said sincerely. He'd not known his mum was an Oyster until he'd bumped into the ARC team in Vancouver, had not known he was a twin, had a brother. He'd just had his slightly-mad father, who his ex best friend March had killed when he was in his twenties. He had never felt his life was complete - meeting Alice and accompanying her back to her world had made things better, but now he was more than just content.

“Me too.” Connor had never imagined having a brother. It had just been him and his mum since the beginning, and now he had a fiance, a brother, and his brother had a girlfriend, and their life was completely and absolutely amazing. It was a dangerous life but he loved it anyway.
