Character Information
Name: Sol Badguy [AU: FEMALE]
Fandom: Guilty Gear
Canon Point: Post-Accent Core+
Age/Appearance:
Sol is a tall, busty woman who appears to be somewhere in her 20s--her age when she underwent the Gear treatment. In reality, she is somewhere around 200 years old. While she is attractive, the way she carries herself and the sharpness of her features makes her seem unapproachable, and there's a certain roughness to her appearance that gives the impression that she doesn't spend much time taking care of herself. Her body is toned and tanned, and her mane of dark brown hair is kept down to her hips, choppily cut shorter around her face.
Her eyes are a bright red-brown color--a clear sign that she is a Gear, rather than human. She keeps them hidden with the headband she wears at all times, wearing it low on her forehead, over her browline. If her headband were to be removed, her Gear marking would be visible on her forehead in bright orange. This marking consists of a small circle, under which is a larger crescent shape, prongs pointing upward. The outside of the crescent is lined with small 'spikes.'
History:
Here. For a reference of gender changes in her AU, see
here. For more general information about the series, check

Because the only changes in this AU are the genders of some characters, all the major events in Sol's history are staying the same. However, changes in gender are significant, so parts of Sol's personality have developed differently.
In canon, Sol's personality is very typically masculine. This tends to lend itself to a bit of casual misogyny-for example, one of his post-battle quotes indicates that he finds fighting women to be particularly irritating, whereas he makes no similar comments regarding men despite most of the people he is in conflict with being male. And, with a couple of exceptions, he seems to view them as being less of a genuine threat than men with a similar level of skill. There are also a couple of occasions where he uses language that has come to have a bit of a sexist connotation to it.
On the other hand, being a woman whose main professions have both been in notoriously male-dominated fields (science and the military), female!Sol has little tolerance for that kind of casual misogyny. In addition, over her long lifespan she has been insulted on the basis of her lack of traditional femininity many, many times, so she tends to be hyper-aware of pressure to conform to traditional gender roles. Though she isn't particularly patient with other people at the best of times, the kind of attitude canon!Sol displays would get under her skin and set her off incredibly quickly.
Additionally, female!Sol tends to be a little bit of a mother toward younger girls, thanks to her time spent in the Holy Order. Being that the Order was a largely male-dominated group, Sol felt the need to keep an eye out for the other, more naive girls. This became something of a habit, and it's stuck with her. This mothering is accomplished with the usual gruff aloofness that characterizes the rest of her personality, but it is present.
Personality:
Despite her name, Sol is not a bad guy. However, she's still about as far as nice as one can possibly be. Cold and indifferent, she doesn't speak unless absolutely required to do so, and even then you're unlikely to get anything more than a few syllables out of her--just enough to get her meaning across, and nothing more. The only time she will willingly initiate conversation on her own is when she needs something from someone else, and in such situations she is curt and demanding. It's not that she doesn't realize people are more likely to be agreeable if she's polite; she just doesn't care. She has things to do, and that does not include making friends.
In fact, if anything, she is actively antisocial. To her, other people are just annoyances that get in the way, and emotional attachments are unnecessary weaknesses that could hold her back or be exploited. Plus, as she no longer ages, she's destined to outlive anyone she does befriend, making the process seem especially pointless. Though there is sometimes a certain zen quality to her stoicism, for the most part her long life has simply made her bitter and jaded rather than wise.
This bitterness is likely the reason she is more likely to display irritation rather than any positive emotion--or even sadness. Aggressive and impatient, when things don't go her way she tends to start busting heads open until she gets what she wants. "Do it or you'll burn" is more or less her default response to anyone refusing to do as she says, regardless of what she's asking of them. When it comes to things that don't directly concern her, though, her attitude is on the other end of the spectrum entirely-- lazy at best and apathetic at worst.
She also has a strong disposition toward callousness, and is often crude and unrefined. Sol is not the type to say anything but what she means--if she absolutely has to say anything, anyway--and rarely ever censors herself to protect other's sensibilities. This extends to situations where she is speaking to someone in a position of authority over her; in fact, it's not uncommon for Sol to ignore authority figures entirely, doing whatever she wants or feels is necessary without regard to what is considered acceptable to others.
Despite all this, though, she tries to do what she feels is right and will not act in a way that conflicts with her own morals. Despite her rough exterior, it's not unknown for her to protect others with no expectation of a reward for her behavior. In actuality, she harbors a great deal of guilt that can border on self-hatred at times, blaming herself for the Crusades due to her involvement in the Gear Project. As such, she has dedicated herself to making the world a better place in her own way. That way largely consists of exterminating the remaining active Gears, but, hey, she does what she can.
Powers:
fire magic- As a Gear, Sol is magically powerful. In particular, she specializes in the use of the fire-based magic. Generally speaking, when using it she combines this ability with physical attacks (ex: fire-coated uppercuts), though she does occasionally attack with nothing but pure flame.
Despite the raw power she possesses, though, she is still the prototype Gear. As a result, her magic isn't as refined as later Gears'. To compensate, she uses something called the Fireseal Sword. Without it, she lacks control and finesse, meaning using her abilities to their fullest extent could endanger both herself and others.
enhanced physical abilities- Sol also has strength and endurance greater than what most humans can achieve. Though certainly not the most physically powerful character in the series, Sol has been shown to perform feats of strength greater than what a normal human can achieve (bare-handed Gear fightin') as well as withstand injuries that would likely kill a normal human (being shot repeatedly, being stabbed through the chest and electrocuted, etc).
dragon install- She also has the ability to tap into her Gear side to increase both her physical and magical abilities temporarily. However, this boost only lasts a short time, and afterward she's left with a migraine headache. It's also possible for her to transform completely into her Gear form, which essentially turns her into a magical weapon of mass destruction. She's very unlikely to actually do so, however, as this transformation leaves her self-control and sanity shaky at best.
