Fall 2005 (tentative):
M/W:
3:00- Math For the College Student
6:00- Poetry Writing I
T/Tr:
12:00: Intermediate Painting
Should be a good quarter. One important studio, one important lecture, and an unimportant academic requirement.
(Can you guess which is which?)
Today I walked the dogs and got some lunch, then I went skateboarding
through a few squares along bull street in search of some historical
information plaques. I've started doing free association rubbings of
the signs, picking and choosing words from them and forming little
da-da ish prose pieces which have a funky aesthetic to them- they look
like type studies, but they're crayon rubbings so they're real smudgy
and harder to read..... I'll scan a few and post pictures soon.
I think I'm going to put them on shirts, find a way to print them VIA
Lithography. So far I have one about a martyr, one about society. I like the idea that I'm using words as dictated by historical reference, be it fictional or built on truth. Hopefully I can find a way to make some conjecture about the present based upon these signs from the past. We'll see what comes next, im gonna continue to skate around and do them.
I've simply been using pages in my sketchbook so far, but at some point
i think i'll switch to vellum so I can possibly play with transparency
or make a little
book. I think it's a neat little idea to develop, and hopefully it'll play into the poetry class I'll be taking soon.
