I suppose that this entire ordeal with my father has really what my thoughts about the future started- about my own future.

I am now at a point in my life where (at least in some ways) I am dependant upon my self for drive of progression. The next step will be for me to become self sufficient and financially independant, which i am sure will be no small feat. Living all those years with my father taking care of everything, acting as a sort of umbrella, then moving on to becoming dependant upon the trust financially and upon my mentors here at school for direction and support has simply left me to look to the future with utter curiosity. I wonder what will happen, and only find that the age of discovery is coming closer every day.

So now where'll I go on this journey? Who will come with me?

I wonder often what city i will find myself calling home, where I will be making my headway as an artist. New york..? Milan..? London....? Atlanta....?

Cincinnatti?

It's a possible choice, though not neccesarily an ideal one. I think of Cinci as a home still- and I have high hopes that I could make it there. It's not too expensive a city, not too difficult a town. Diverse but still safe, interesting and still livable. And it's dead center- a town where I could still be in touch with nature, still be urban. I know why my father lived there. I know why my mother stayed. I understand why I left, but dont get why I havent gone back.
It's a city which has a university which I could enter easily and probably gain a teaching assistantship in (which would mean not only a full scholarship, but a stipend).....

London? A new place, a foreign one where at least the language (if not the dialect) is the same would be a welcome place.... There are some great programs for painting and printmaking there, too, as well as opportunities to show work internationally. That is something that would be of a high interest to me, and I've always wanted to study abroad.

New York... is an obvious possibility. I know at least 10 people there already, but could go to that city and never see any of them. But I've never visited, and it's expensive, difficult, and touchy (apparently).

Germany- Have heard great things, but I dont speak the language. While I would be willing to learn a second language, and certainly undertaking something of that nature would be welcome, I just dont know about learning in a second language.....

What do you think?
