September 24:
I've been sick the past two days. But I think I'm getting over it. Was going to look a laminate carpet to put over the carpet of my apartment so that I could mess it up with art without worrying about the carpet, but didn't feel like going to a specialty shop and getting people there sick. I went to Lowes though but the cheapest laminate they had would have been $150 for the amount I needed.

Went to Good Year to get the small leak in my radiator looked at. It would have been $50 for them just to look at it. I decided not to right now as the leak-stop stuff has almost sealed the leak so I can wait a bit longer to find someone else.
Went to a carpeting store. They said that the plastic roll of laminate flooring is usually a special order thing so just go to Lowes or Home Depot. I went to Home Depot and their cheapest Laminate flooring is the same cost as Lowes.
Have main computer all set-up now. Bought a pre-cut 12' x 9' roll of laminate. Maybe in two weeks I'll buy the next section. It's costing me to do this, but when I get back into making art, I don't want to get stuff all over the carpet of the apartment that I would have to pay a lot to clean up.

Notes for Linux users. Lots of info on web on how to handle the 4K sectors, but no real straightforward "How To." Well here it is:
Run fdisk with the -u parameter to partition the drive and select 64 as the starting block (instead of default 63). Then, use the -b parameter in mkfs to specify 4096 block sizes: mkfs -t ext3 -b 4096 /dev/sda1
Results are impressive: hdparm -t /dev/sda1 = 132MB/sec
I've selected all of the parts except for hard drives for my second NAS. Trying to decide if I should buy everything now... or wait until FreeNAS version 8.

I have been taking St. John's Wort to try to help my sleep. I think it has been affecting my sleep but don't know if it's good or bad. It seems to be slightly increasing the length of my dreams, but I seem to be waking up a lot at night now.

Found a puddle of water near the AC / fridge last night... seeping into the carpet and hard to get by. Called today to get it fixed. Luckily nothing of importance got wet. There is a fan and a dehumidifier right now trying to dry things downstairs.

Finished Mossflower last night. First book I actually finished reading since college. That was quite a story. Looking forward to the next book.
