First Post of 2017
Hey, all. Thought I'd post a little update on what's been going on for me.
1. I got a new job last year in August. I love it. I'm working in the housekeeping department at my town's nursing home. I clean West and that's where my grandmother is, so I get to clean her room nearly everyday and I get to see her a lot now. The nursing home is only one mile away from where I live, so getting to work in the snow is a lot less terrifying than when I worked at the hotel.
I like my co-workers, for the most part. Sometimes they can be a little much, but I still like them. And I absolutely adore the residents! They're all so sassy and smart and funny! When I get to be in my 80s and 90s, I hope I'm half as sassy as the women are! They crack me up constantly.
I have medical insurance now, so if the Republicans do dismantle Obamacare, I won't have to worry about not having insurance. That makes me really happy! I have set hours (6 am to 2 pm), so that makes it easier to plan things. My days off are also set: I have every other weekend off and every other Monday and Thursday. Meaning: this weekend is my weekend off. Next week, I'll have Thursday off. After that, I'll have Monday off. Its wonderful to have a weekend off! I never got that at the hotel. I also get paid sick days and paid vacation days!
2. My sister is expecting another baby this year! She's due in May. She finds out on Wednesday next week what gender the baby is. We're going to her house that night for a Gender Reveal party. I'm hoping for a boy. I'd love to have a nephew!
3. I've gotten into the t.v. show Gotham. I ship Ed Nygma and Oswald Cobblepot (known as Nygmobblepot) like crazy! I started to re-read Dick Francis' books, because I love them and I haven't read them in a long time. I've started writing stories again, two for Gotham so far.
4. I still pet- and house-sit for family friends. It's fun! I get paid to watch their pets and stay at their house.
Well, that's about all that I can think of to say right now. Happy New Year to everyone on my f-list! Hope this new year has been good to all of you so far.
