Right. Well, then

Of the many things you DON'T want to hear your electrician say, "oh, shit" is pretty high up there on the list.

And that's exactly what I heard from my kitchen this afternoon. Turns out Himself and I have been living with a rather nasty fire-hazard all these years and never knew it. The light over our sink was, apparently, at one point a light that plugged into an outlet. At some point before our residence, an enterprising body clipped off the plug, pulled out the former light above the sink and then proceeded to tape the wires together and then paint over them.

Yeah. I don't even. What the fuck, people? Thank fuck we never used that light, pretty much at ALL since it was a goddamn fire hazard every time I turned the bloody thing on.

So. Good news is, it took the electrician less than an hour to do everything needed, which included installing a new light. They were also kind enough not to laugh in my face, when I fully admitted to not being able to change out a light fixture without setting something on fire. Or even an outlet. It's pretty sad. But they were really nice guys, real professional. The bill's gonna suck, considering they sent out their master electrician and his apprentice, but hey, since I'm a repeat customer, maybe they'll give me a discount.

One can always hope.

I'm gonna go dig up some chocolate and finish dinner now, m'kay?
