Work, work, work...

I am finally working the shift I was hired for, second shift, so generally 4pm to 2am. As long as I keep to the general time frame on off days I do very well on the shift which has somewhat surprised me since I have been on a 7am start the day schedule for so long. Since we are emergency only we usually get busy at those hours since normal clinics are closed, so we actually see patients!! :) This makes me happy since I finally get to learn and see more things.

Since our practice is new to the group of hospitals I work for things have been very dynamic in the staffing department. There has been quite a few people let go in the few months I have been here which is somewhat nerve wracking but we are a young clinic and trying to find a good fit in staffing can be understandably hard. Recently the gal that was working the same shift as me was let go so now there were gaping holes in the schedule. I ended up picking up at least a day every week since I knew extra money would be good, but damn my next week and a half is going to be hell!! This week I work tues-fri (10 or 12 hours shifts we are talking about), then am on call for sunday and there are still holes that day so very high chance I will be called in. Then I go from next tues to sunday! Just have to think ahead to those paychecks!!

That leads into my bills which easily stress me out. I feel I am fairly well off for someone my age and most of it has been all saved funds from working multiple jobs, my issue is I want to keep saving as much as possible. This apartment was well above what I wanted to be paying for by myself and now I have had some unexpected car expenses (theft of my catalytic converter!), plus I took on my own healthcare through my job sooner than I would have liked and now will be putting the title of my car under my name and be paying for the insurance etc on it. I have goals to go to Poland in the summer and also will have to start paying school loans soon, so more expenses in the future. I shouldn't be so worried about it but I have been fairly lucky in the ability to save my money in the last few years so it has been an adjustment to spend so much of my paychecks each month.

I have my 90 day review next week so here's hoping I will get a bit of a raise, plus all of the overtime hours coming my way!!

I need better things to do with my life then work and pay bills! lol
