During a two hour phone conversation with
faerie_pink we started talking about the good 'ole days and next thing you know, we're reading old journal entries. Some of them were really old from our handwritten journals and others were from internet blogging. While I wished I didn't complain or ramble so much, she was missing entries about our adventures and the fun things we did when we lived in the same town. So in the spirit of keeping our memories alive, this one is for you Kim.
Kim paid us a surprise visit this weekend. I think we hadn't seen each other since mid-June and seeing as we used to see each other almost daily; it's been a long time. The funny thing about our relationship is our ability to easily fall back into our friendship and to pick up where we left off without a moment of hesitation. It could be a week, a month, a year or an hour, it's all the same. We pick on each other, we laugh uncontrollably and it never changes.
Another thing that never changes it Perkins. We always end up at Perkins. Whether planned or not, it's become sort of a tradition. And when I'm with Kim...funny things always happen. Today was no different.
After being seated and putting our drink orders in,
allforamy,
faerie_pink and I settled into our usual banter and conversation. I don't even remember what we were talking about. A waitress not the one that took our order, approached with our drinks on a tray...a very wobbly tray. I noticed her hands shaking and automatically thought to myself "Please don't let her be our waitress." She somewhat short, chunky, frizzy, curly black hair and this nasty cavity filled gap between her two front teeth. But she was our waitress. She asked for our order right away and as usual Kim has no idea what she wants. We could be at a place called "nothing but burgers with cheese" and she would need extra time to order. We tell the waitress, Chrissy that we're not ready and she nags us about an appetizer. I turn that down and she walks away. We all start talking again, glancing at the menu and before we've even come close to deciding, Chrissy appears again. This time she leans on Kim's side of the both not saying anything. Creepy. She's just standing there listening. We stop talking and tell her we're not ready. I even tell the girl that it's going to be a bit longer because Kim always takes awhile. Chrissy laughs and walks away. Once we've finally made our selections, Chrissy returns to take our order. Robert orders, I order and without fail, Kim hesitates. Now here's the good part...Chrissy giggles...giggles...I said giggles looks at Kim all smiling and beaming and goes..."You're so cute!". Not in that puppies are cute way, not in the you're ok take your time you're-so-cute, but the I think that backstreet boy is cute sort of way. Long story short, the rest of the meal consisted of Kim sulking, me laughing my ass of and Chrissy eyeing Kim. One word: Priceless.
Back to the topic of blogging,
faerie_pink and I have decided to make an effort towards blogging again. I think I can, I think I can...
