Sky blue eyes pierced through her soul as she stood behind the counter of a rundown gas station. For a brief second her heart stopped and that feeling of complete free falling took her off guarded. She didn’t believe she would ever have that feeling again and wasn’t so sure she wanted to have to feeling now. After everything she has been through in her 23 years of life, taught her to keep men at a distance and this man standing in front of her was no different. There was no way she was going to let this funny feeling take over her, and turn her into that woman she once was….then he smiled.

“What happened to your Jeep?” Matthew asked

“Oh…No….what happened now? Piper asked as she ran to the side window to look out and see what some jerk did to her already beat up Jeep. “Oh…you mean the bumper?” Piper said

“Ahh yeah.” Matthew laughed, and all Piper could do was look into those eyes and that smile and melt.

“Umm, the wheel fell off, while I was driving it…that was lots of fun…not.” Piper let out with a sigh. About two weeks earlier she took her Jeep to get the tires changed to summer tires and ended up having one of the wheels fall off because the tire was not put on tight enough.

“No, good.” Matthew smiled

“DAD….can we go NOW! DAD” Cam yelled at his father.               Matthew continued to smile at Piper and ignore his youngest son.

“I guess I shouldn’t take my car to a place where my ex’s best friend works huh?” Piper smiled

“No, that’s probably not a good idea.” Matthew answered while his son ran into his stomach.

Piper watched as his son continued to run into his father’s stomach, complaining the whole time that he was ready to go home. “I think he wants to go now.” Piper giggled.

“Yeah, I guess I should get going….having a good night.” Matthew smiled as he walked out the door. With a heavy sigh Piper finished cleaning the store, all the while trying to get those blue eyes out of her head.
