FARMINGTON -- The woman struck by a sport-utility vehicle in Farmington while snowmobiling with her fiancŽ last weekend died of her injuries Tuesday evening.
Lisa Cerqueira, 20, of Wilton suffered internal injuries and several broken bones when she and Richard Billian, 23, were hit by an Mercury Mountaineer about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Cerqueria died at Maine Medical Center in Portland where she had been kept in an induced coma following emergency surgery, police said.

The driver of the SUV, Sarah Forbes, 43, of Farmington, has been charged with aggravated operating under the influence of alcohol, a felony. Police have not disclosed her blood alcohol level, but said she was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Forbes is being held in the Franklin County Jail. As of late Tuesday she had been unable to post bail of $2,000 cash or $20,000 worth of real estate set Monday by a district court judge.

The investigating officer, Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy Sandy Burke, said the charge against Forbes may be upgraded to manslaughter.

Friday night, Cerqueira and Billian, a Farmington police officer, were part of a party of nine snowmobilers that included two other Farmington officers. The group was riding on the trail that connects Farmington to Chesterville. Burke said when it was Billian's turn to cross the highway near Farmington Tire, one of the snowmobile's skis got stuck on the curb.

Burke said Billian had gotten off to straighten out the ski and the sled was partially in the road when Forbes' eastbound SUV struck. The impact threw Cerqueira 100 feet and also injured Billian's foot.

Burke said that as of Tuesday night, he had interviewed nine witnesses including the driver directly behind Forbes, three other motorists and five snowmobile riders.

Billian and Cerqueira, both graduates of Mount Blue High School, were engaged to be married in August. She was employed at Wal-Mart in the pharmacy department. Burke said tests indicated the snowmobile riders had not consumed alcohol.
our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends!
