After long (and fucking painful) deliberation, I have decided to got to Brown. I still can't believe that I'm turning down Berkeley, which was my big shining goal when I started out this whole process, but in the end I decided that Brown would be the best place to finish out my undergrad years ( Read more... )

Talk to the GSIs you knew at Berkeley from last year to land some position there or nearby? Maybe Stanford if you know anyone who might know something?

If there's anything around, you could possibly find an assistant position for a professor...or something else that'll let you hang around a campus

That's my advice for places out of town, anyway.

I hear back anytime between now and never. literally. gah

seriously? I was only waitlisted by columbia, but they said they'd tell me yes or no by mid-june. I'm sorry, that must be so frustrating :( What are yoiu doing over the summer, btw?

Don't worry--I don't associate you and other people at Wellesley with Wellesley.

Wellesley just makes me very, very sad and annoyed. They've been giving me problems too. -_-

wait you're transferring toooooooooooooooooooooo? why do people not tell me these things?! my worst punishment thus far has been to visit said people....it's not like I'm going to thrash you or anything....*shifty eyes*

I mean, they give me problems too (witness the .67 credit transfer in my major), but not overly so. dunno. maybe I'm just uncritical?

also I add my congrats. and am really really excited that you will be going to school still on the same coast and in fact only in providence. :)
you should at least do volunteer stuff this summer if you can't find anything else. I'd say to check on the wellesley alum site but...

I'm so glad that you're going to somewhere that's such a great fit for you :D And our Ghiradelli journey was EPIC; I certainly wouldn't mind repeating that when you feel better. If I see any employment openings, I'll definitely pass them on! Though I think you could pull off the freelance college essay review thing - maybe ask your sister if there's anyone a year or two younger than her who might be interested?
