Last night I was able to prove, once again, that I am completely inept when it comes to doing lab work. It was about 8:00 and we were almost done with our experiments (or so we thought), and I was supposed to go get some NaOH with a dropper for our experiment. Unfortunately though, I was stupid and instead of picking up the clean dropper, I picked up the one we'd previously used with AgNO3 (I think) and turned the entire bottle of NaOH a brownish color.
I freaked out and told my TA. I guess he thought I said I'd contaminated our experimental solution, so he just, "Oh, you're screwed. Go get some more." So then I had to tell him again that I'd actually contaminated the big bottle of solution up front. I showed it to him, and he put his hands to his head and said, "Oh, you mean you screwed everyone else!". Then he took the bottle and poured it out.
My lab partner and I had to go next door and borrow some more NaOH to finish that section of the experiment. So, while we were working, we got to talking and she said she went to East in the IB program for like a year. And I was all like "OMG, I was in IB too!" and she was like "No way! Did you have Weigand?" And I was like "He's totally my biology teacher!!! How long ago did you have him?" And she was like "Well, I was class of 1999, so..." and then I kind of said something like "OMG, you're so old!!!!" And she was like "I am?" And I was like, "Well, I mean you don't look so old, but you have to be like 25 or something!!!" That's how I got to know my partner, Tammy.
We did that lab where you use the phenolphthalein and see if the solution turns pink so that you know it's basic. My partner was supposed to use the dropper to add base one drop at a time until the solution was basic and then add base again to make it neutral, but she got really excited... and squirted the whole thing in there at once, turning the solution completely pink. That was at 8:50pm.
So, then we cleaned up the lab area... which took forever cuz we had like a hundred different tools and wastes to "properly dispose of". And by 9:10, I'd taken off my gloves and started to get together my stuff when the girl from the group that normally works next to me asked me if I'd done the SECOND PART OF THE LAB!!! Mr. TA said that we had like 9:45pm to finish before he'd throw us out. Needless to say, we still hadn't completely finished when we left at 9:45pm.

Yesterday before class, I applied to be a receptionist at the medical place or something. I went in to fill out the app, and I was like WTF? to like everything. I mean, first of all, why would an application need to know what "Grammar School" I went to? And does that mean I'm supposed to tell them I went to MCKM? And then, references. Do my teachers really want to be bothered over the summer? Yeah... no.
I gave the lady the app and she was like, "You have no experience?" and I shook my head. Then she told me they weren't having interviews that day and they'd call me later. Honestly, I don't think I got the job.... how sad is that?!
Today I decided to apply to work somewhere that I was better equipped for. So, I'll tell you if that works out later!
And for goodness sakes... why the hell is the pedophile picture for optimistic, too?!?
