We were out for a few hours last night and came home to find the dog had gotten into the bathroom garbage and strewn chewed up, shredded sanitary napkins throughout the house. I mean, everywhere. It was pretty disgusting. Worse than him eating the cat litter. Miranda had gone upstairs first and said --oh, Chestnut chewed up a whole roll of toilet paper! And then I came upstairs and realized what it was. I got most of it picked up but today I realized there will still tiny shredded pieces everywhere and it's just so hot I feel as though I can't breathe, I just don't want to run the vacuum.

Everything is all vacuumed now, and I think I'm going to have to start vacuuming two or three times a week instead of just once, the vacuum was full of pet hair. And I might be the slightest bit hungover from sitting at a friend's house until very late drinking wine. And I need to sew a birthday gift for the party Ivy's going to tomorrow.

How is that for most boring post ever? It's not even a proper entry, it's cobbled together from posts from a parenting forum.

One of the dogs at the shelter bit me yesterday. He didn't break the skin, but left a huge bruise and tore my shorts. I was taking him out of his kennel and he started barking and lunging at another dog in her kennel, I tugged on the leash and he turned and nipped me hard. And I know you shouldn't jerk the leash like that when a dog is being aggressive--I watch It's Me or the Dog! I'm an expert! (although I can't stand Victoria Stilwell's personality. But I think she's an excellent trainer). It caught me off guard though. Next time I'll remember to keep him on short leash so he won't get so worked up.

We've been fostering kittens for two months straight, three different batches. The last one included the mama cat as well, we just took them back yesterday. I like helping out, and the kids adored watching the mama cat look after her babies, but I'm so glad to have litter pans and cat food bowls out of my sewing room, to be able to keep the door open and get some air circulating through. Miranda and Ivy want to get some more, but I think I'm going to wait until next week to see if the shelter has any available.
