Summer is the season I'm least enthusiastic about. It's hot, I sweat an embarrassing amount, every where is crowded. I probably wrote the same entry last summer, including the part about writing the same entry.
We decided not to send the girls to Zoo Camp this summer, despite the fact that Ivy adores it. Brian felt they should try something new, but then we dicked around on finding something new until it was too late. But we were able to get into the zoo family overnight campout, so that should be fun. It's next weekend. Just me and the girls, Brian gets a guys night out--well, night in since we'll have the car.
Mostly I'm just wasting time, I feel. We've been doing summer stuff on the weekends, but weekdays I'm feeling bogged down, and I'm not even working for the summer. I've been trying to get to the city of Cleveland pools, since they are free and don't have a residency requirement. I guess most of the suburbs are snooty about driving into Cleveland for a free pool, but I don't care--especially since I don't have a swimsuit, and I'm not going to pay admission to a pool just to watch Ivy play in the water. Which sounds pretty selfish when I put it in writing so maybe I'll reconsider.
I probably should give myself credit for all the animals we've been looking after. Miranda and I are still volunteering as dog walkers at one of the local shelters, as well as fostering kittens. We had a puppy for a week a few months ago, and when we took him back, took some kittens. They need to be two pounds for their spay surgery, so we just take care of them until they get up to that weight. Now we have a mom cat and her five babies. Much of my day involves feeding animals and scooping poop. But the girls are delighted and they are pretty cute. Here's some pictures of the last batch (the link takes you to my blog)
