He felt a vague sensation of rising, floating along, accompanied by a deep thrum. He focused enough to discover he was being carried, effortlessly as if a mere child, the humming resolved to be the carrier muttering under his breath, making his chest reverberate. The sensations reached out and caressed the man's body and when softness reched out for him, he gave in willingly to its sweet embrace and complete darkness enfolded him once again.
He walked along a dark alley, silence met his ears from all directions. He was rushing to get home and so, naturally, had taken an inadvisable shortcut. In one terrifying moment, the hairs rose on the back of his neck, and he knew he was in trouble. The next second, pain sprouted on his neck and arm, pinching, tearing, stabbing. He felt the warm in his boddy rushing up, towards the double pinpoints in his neck, leaving him faster than a vacuum could inhale a pile of sand. Weaknss overcame him and he collapsed, held only by whatever caused him so much pain. In the next moment, he was turned, the pain relinquishing its hold and becoming nothing more than a throbbing ache. His head fell, or was pushed, down onto a soft, cool mass. Something wet touched his lips and he took it in, sucking it down fast like water for a man trapped in a desert. It was indescribable, the taste, smell, he instantly felt strong and weak all at once, it was pain and bliss.
Blood, so much blood, vibrant red and beautiful. When he awoke, he knew; a slow smile spread across his face.
