The rythmic creak of the katydids entwined with the melodic chirp of a lone cricket in a beautiful harmony somewhere outside the tent's thin walls in the warm summer night. The girl was restless, sleep far away and nature's music an insufficient lullaby. She tossed and turned, searching for a comfortable place on the hard, unforgiving ground, despite the plush, grassy carpet. She would have welcomed a walk in the warm air, away from the close stuffines of the oil-cloth tent. However, she knew the guard at the tent flap would most likely hinder her. Even so, she sat up in her shift and hunted blindly around for her gown. The simple green cotton was easy to don and comfortable enough, as well. Shuffling quietly to the side of the tent farthest from the flap, she tugged at the bottom of the cloth, it was not pulled terribly tight against the ground and she was able to roll overneath. Her bare feet made no sound against the cool grass as she slipped away from the cluster of tents, a great number of them, in a hodgepodge of shapes and sizes, consisting of whatever the soldiers had been able to gather together. Her own tent, small and plain, stood near the edge of the cluster on the side towards the open plains. This was a means of disguise for its very important occupant. Invaders would be drawn towards the large, gaudy tent at the center, leaving her's safe and ignored. The princess had been caught in the middle of a war between her mother's own great nation and a growing empire. She was still young and her mother had thought it best that she be uninvolved. But she was not used to such living, she worried for her home and family and could not easily adjust to the toil of constant travel as she was stolen away to a far town in a hidden corner of her country.

uumm... yeah, maybe I will go somewhere with this? Meanwhile, its just a random scribble mainly because I have something else that popped into my mind that I wanna write down.
