Working Hard
gods! these past two days at work have been extremely busy! so...may...buys! *falls over* and each one is huge! an entire huge box, sometimes two! and so many inmates. must be over 400 a day.
We've been just barely making it, finishing at some 3:35 or so these past two days. We don't even make it to the time clock until 4:20 or even 4:30. God bless ETE time (extra time earned) for paid tme off. got me about 45 minutes of that *cheers*
I pushed myself so hard these past two days. I wouldn't even get to sleep until like midnight, then get up at 6:30 and go work, working hard and fast ALL day on hardly anything to eat....I...really....REALLY must like this job..if it were any other job i'd just call in.
In fact, things have been so fast that Bob needed to help me by sorting everything up onto the counter as I rung it up. Ended up going twice as fast as usual, AND being accurate. Probably wouldn't have made it though if Bob hadn't helped. But i'm getting broken into the speed of the routine.
A new hire started today too. Tomorrow will be her first real day in the commissary. Showed her a few things about the routine and what nees to be done.
Hopefully she takes window 3 next week. I hate window 3!! that price scanner sucks! *kills it* windows 1, 2, and 4 have the same old looking scanners that work heaps better than the new flashy looking one on 3.
Can't wait till next week when I go to window 1 for small buys. or even go back to 4 like i was on the first week. anything but 3.
Few days ago was interesting too. We were ALL busy on the windows, even wayne the supervisor. So I guess one of the inmates decided to be bold... *chuckles*
After everything was done, and we were in the office eating. The guard, Soto, comes in and just grins slightly "Wayne, you'll wanna come take a look at the garbage"
Apparently an inmate had stuffed a few garbage bags FULL 4 great big shopping bags full of commissary items! I wondered how we could have possibly missed that! Thank god for Soto's watchful eye, that was a LOT of money there...
No one knows who did the crime, but the whole inamet crew for the place was fired and now we have these new people that aren't quite as fast yet. Hopefully they catch on. It seems like they are.
