"All right. I'm sure I'm going to regret this, though."

"Music with rocks in! Here we go... One, what's the cutest thing I did as a child? Two, exactly how scruffy were you before you were a Duke? Three, how did Mum ever make you marginally presentable? Four, what really happened the day I was born? Mum's told stories about you running around in the nuddy. Which I don't really want to think about, but... morbid fascination, I suppose. Five, want to go out for curry?"

"You exsisted. That was enough. Everything you did was just..." He shakes his head. "The way you looked at me... it was beautiful." He looks down at himself. "Well, depends on whether I was lying in the gutter at the time or not. And she insisted. You know how your mum is. And Willikins was on her side. I'll definitely join you for a curry, but the other's a long, long story."

[dragoncopper]

"Yeah, it's hard to fight Mum and Willikins. Damn good man, he is." Sam grins. "And I really would like to know."

[notsirsam]

He sighs. "They'd gotten Carcer cornered at the university. I had to get down there to make sure no one got hurt. You've seen him, he's... he kills people. Stronginthearm was off duty, for gods' sake, just eating a rat pie.

"So I got down there, he climbed up on to the Library dome, it started hailing really bad, there was this flash of lightening, and we fell through the dome... And I woke up thirty years before."

[dragoncopper]

"Ah. So that's why you're not disturbed at the time travel."

[notsirsam]

"Mostly, yeah. I happened to show up about three days before Treacle Mine Road."

[dragoncopper]

He winces. "Ouch. So you had to see it all again?"

[notsirsam]

"No. I had to fight it all again. I had to be Keel."

[dragoncopper]

The wince is much more pronouced. "I... thought he died."

[notsirsam]

"He did. Unfortunately it was the night I showed up, and not on the barricades like it should have been. Carcer, you see."

[dragoncopper]

"I see."

[notsirsam]

"Yeah. Long story short, I fought, they died again, got hold of Carcer in time to take us both home, fell stark bollock naked into the Library, and then had to get home because I thought Carcer might try something."

[dragoncopper]

He giggles.

[notsirsam]

"Shut up, kid. I was terrified."

[dragoncopper]

"Sorry, Dad."
