Tips for getting a Hyatt room

Oct 09, 2013 16:03

By request, here is a comment I made in post format so more will see it:

Some tips for using Passkey, based on today's experience and past ones. I hope others will add their tips in the comments. In a way, it's just a crap shoot, but there are a few things you can try:

1) Enter '1' for number of people staying in the room. There is no penalty for changing this upon check in, and if you enter 2 or more you have to use time typing each guest's name as a required field.

2) Have all your info (credit card no., email, street address) in a Word doc that is ready to be cut and pasted from. Saves precious seconds.

3) Don't forget to select 'United States' (or whatever your country is) from that gray 'country' bar. Inadvertently skipping over this almost killed me this year (I also forgot step 1).

4) Don't take anything Passkey tells you as fact, on the phone or on the website. We almost walked away from the computer at 9 because the website was telling us to come back at 10, and last year a woman on the phone told us rooms were sold out when they actually weren't. Just keep trying for at least thirty minutes.

5) Keep your social media sites open and keep an eye on what people are reporting. It's saved our asses multiple times in the past, this year included.

Please add your own tips if you have some!
