After watching the last episode of Desperate Romantics, it's made me really want to get on and write that novel about the Lizzie/DG/Fanny love triangle. Gee, you can through Jane in there later on. Fanny never really got much luck when it came to love, did she?
I'm slightly annoyed that Fanny Cornforth wasn't in it much (seeing as I fast-forwarded through all the sex scenes, I think I only saw her about twice, briefly!) but to some extent I'm relieved. I've heard crazy stories from Lizzie fans which claim that Fanny murdered her (!) and I'm so pleased they didn't take that route. Personally I believe she died an accidental death, the evidence seems to point that way (people who saw her mere hours before she died said she seemed in good humour). And she more than likely became addicted to laudanum due to the devastation of losing her baby (which it totally neglected, ho hum. I thought they were going to mention it at one point, but never mind).
What was with Rossetti digging up the poems on what appeared to be the night after her funeral? I think you'll find it was years after. Sigh. Honestly, BBC, what were you thinking?
(Although thank goodness they didn't throw in any 'omg Ruskin was a paedophile' stuff. And Jane Burden kept on her clothing throughout! She was the only lead female character who did, mind you)
Nnngh, Fanny Cornforth needs some love. She stuck by him all through his life, even when he (and his family!) was an absolute dog to her.
