I've been thinking a lot more about my novel that I'm planning. Thus far all I have decided is that I want it to be about Rossetti's relationships with Lizzie Siddal and Fanny Cornforth (see my icon!) and also the rivalry between the two. There's no evidence that they ever met, but that's what fiction's for, right? I'm thinking of setting it between 1858, when Gabriel met Fanny, and 1862, when Lizzie died. I think they're a good combination for a novel - they were so different, both physically and personally, and fairly good representations of womanhood between them. I just need to do a large amount of research, and it's not that easy to get hold of books about these ladies *sigh*
Starting off with Fanny because I have a soft spot for her and she is terribly under-represented.
And had crazy long hair!
And moving along to the divine Lizzie Siddal
It's strange because many of his paintings, no matter who modelled for them, took on the features of both of these women, along with Rossetti's other great love, Jane Morris nee Burden.
