Dr. Livingston

Dr. Livingston, intrepid explorer and cat passed quietly in her new home on June 11th, 2021.

Dr. Livingston was named after the famed explorer, Livingston, because of her need to be first into any mystery, any new thing.  She was the cat you needed to check for anytime any door was closed to make sure she hadn't ducked in when you weren't looking.

Dr. Livingston had a difficult start in life.  She was found in a duffle bag in a dumpster.  Rescued from a horrible death, she was taken into a CT cat underground until Police Chief Smith found me and said, "Hey, you want a kitten?"

It was 2004 and we had just lost our beloved cat, Dr. Jones, Physician, Philosopher, Pheline, and there was a cat shaped hole in our hearts.  We had just taken in Kitten Rose, found in a box with 17 other cats in Rose Park, Norwich, and Kage, a 6 month old stray who had just had just had a litter of her own.  We were also fostering Milford, a kitten from Milford Massachusetts.  Four kittens!

Milford found his permanent home in Columbia Maryland where he lives to this day.

Kitten Rose and Kage preceded Dr. Livingston across the bridge of tears to join, Lt. Patches, Dr. Jones, Naga, Gin, and Brutus.

Dr. Livingston wanted another adventure and joined us to our beautiful new home.

Livingston was laid to rest in Duncan's Glenn, while her spirit travels on, her paws on the rudder, her sails swollen with wind.
