Often, when out walking, we look ahead and see a boulder blocking our path; large and heavy, and trail ending. We often dread it, sometimes looking for ways to circumvent it, go around it, or sometimes we just stop dead in our tracks, inventing other reasons for not moving forward.
And stand there.
However; if we move forward bravely but cautiously, we see it was but a trick of the light and as we get closer the boulder gets smaller and smaller and by time you arrive at it you discover it wasn't a boulder at all, but a pebble, easily picked up and moved out of the way.
Other times we find it is a real boulder, but as we examine carefully it we find it has cracks and fissures, and we can wedge our fingers into the seams and break it in half, then quarters, until all that's left are pebbles, easily picked up and moved out of the way.
On rare occasions, the boulder is solid, and without flaw. It is then we call upon friends who come with hammers and chisels and work the stone until it is nothing but pebbles.
Pebbles.
So remember that boulder you see up ahead, do not dread it, because in the end it is only a pebble, easily moved out of the way.
