“Kairi? Are you awake?”

Kairi opened one eye, and looked up at her ceiling. The light pinkish color reflected from the sunlight streaming through her window, and it looked as if it were glowing. The red haired girl, about 16 years old, sat up in her bed. She stretched her arms above her head, and stared out of her window. “Kairi? Honey, are you up?”

“Yeah mom!” She yelled, and took the covers off of her. Another day...It’s been two years since I last saw you...Sora... Kairi got up from her bed, and grabbed a pair of clothes. Her school skirt, and a white blouse. “I hate how we have to wear uniforms...” She grumbled, pulling her skirt up around her legs. Kairi pulled the blouse over her head, and combed her fingers through her hair. “Meh, it will have to do. I’ll probably be late enough as it is...”

With that, she grabbed her school bag, and swung it over her shoulder. Kairi strolled into her kitchen, and sat down next to her mom. Her mom looked up from her paper, and smiled. “Kairi, I swear you look more pretty everyday.” She patted her arm. Kairi stared down at her food. Some toast with butter, and an apple. “...Thanks mom.” She nodded her head, and took a bite out of her toast. “Kairi, what’s wrong? You’ve been acting like this for a long time. Is it because that Sor-“

”It’s nothing, mom.” Kairi placed her toast down, and grabbed the apple off the table. “I have to run. Selph’s probably waiting for me. I’ll see you after school.” Kairi gave her mom a kiss goodbye, and ran towards the doorway.

“Kairi! Jeez, where have you been? I’ve been waiting for ten minutes, you lazy bum.” Selphie laughed as she waited for her friend. “Sorry Selph...I woke up a bit late today.” Kairi smiled, and adjusted the strap over her shoulder. Selphie chuckled, and shook her head. “It’s ok. Is something on your mind, though...?” She asked, looking at Kairi’s face with concern. Kairi stared towards the horizon, and sighed. “Two years it’s been...”

“Oh, Kairi...” Selphie slipped her arm through hers and led her towards the path to school. “You still believe that he’ll come back?”

“Of course I do, Selph. He promised me he would come back.”

“You don’t know if he’s de-“

”Don’t say that!” Kairi recoiled, taking her arm out of Selphie’s lock around it. “He’s not dead.” Her light blue eyes turned hard and cold, as she stared at her friend. “Kairi, I didn’t mean it. It’s just...he’s been gone for so long. Where would he be?” Kairi just began to walk towards the school again. “He’s probably searching for his way home.”

Behind them, Namine appeared. “He’ll be far from searching for his way home. His journey has only begun...” In a blink of an eye, she dissapeared again, and all that was left of her presence was a glass flower petal settled into the sand.
