Well, it's occurred to me since I've really been more of a lurker for most of my internet career I actually lack a lot of the stereotypical shipper experiences. Which makes my whole Shipper Handbook project a lot more difficult. This isn't really a project I'd be working on that much until December, but I thought it'd be really helpful if I could

- Shipping wars: I suggest going and reading Fandom Wank. And following the links, since they often have links/screencaps associated with them so you can see the wanky glory in its original form.
- Lots of same-shippers in the same place = LOTS OF SQUEEING. Awkward for people who prefer another ship, though.
- The OTP thing depends on the person, and the series. FOR EXAMPLE in Tenipuri fandom, while there are a bunch of OTP types, because of the sheer number of characters (and thus possible ships), there are also lots of people who have multiple OTPs. I myself would be very upset if I were forced to choose between D1 and Atotari :- Cosplay thoughts: ...yes, for D1 in Tenipuri fandom. But I would be far more interested in doing snark and the Switch rather than standard shippy things, so. Actual shippy cosplay with making out and everything is usually done by people who are already dating, I think ( ... )

- LOTS OF SQUEEING Guess I should have realized that xD;; I'm not sure why but it actually didn't come to mind.
- This seems to be the response I've been getting from most people, the "that it depends, but most people have multiple ships" idea. Hrm, this is interesting since in my experience the stereotype seems to be one ship only that the shipper vehemently defends.
- Cosplay thoughts make sense too.
- I've gotten mixed responses to this question so far! I agree with you, but I've also gotten two people who say that a ship becoming canon would be the last thing they'd want! o.o weird huh?

Fff, yeah. Looooots of squeeing. And if you are lucky and the fangirls are not insane, possibly intelligent discussion of the awesome. Possibly.
It really depends on the series, too, I think. With Supernatural, for example, there's only really two major pairings, so most people will probably just have one OTP. It's the series with huge casts, like Tenipuri and Naruto and Bleach and so forth, where you get more than one.
...oh, and there is an important distinction between having multiple OTPs within one series, and having multiple OTPs with the same character in that series. Generally you only have one OTP per character, and that's where the wars come in; because Character X can only be paired with Character Y, goddammit, and that crazy person over there shipping them with Character Z is a BLASPHEMER. But if you're shipping X/Y and someone else ships Z/A, there's not much conflict there. And in the ( ... )
