Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Step Two
- Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Whew, you know, I don't think I've made a Xmas list since I was a kid xD;; Hrm... my family isn't very big on holidays or celebrations in general. A bit to my dismay, but we're first generation Chinese immigrants, so we can't really help it. We don't even do the Chinese holidays.
Okay, it's kind of late atm, so hopefully I can come up with something good xD;; I might go back and edit this, hrm...
1. Oh geez, there are so many things I need for my computer, in order of importance: a tablet, a scanner, and a printer. It'd also be very nice to have my own light table of some sort, but those are sooooo expensive and a good, decent size to work on is usually quite cumbersome and hard to move around. The light tables aren't computer related, but they're in the category of "expensive equipment." Most of these are so that I wouldn't have to run around campus so much to get stuff done xD;; I was able to get a portable hard drive during Black Friday, so that has been checked off the list.
2. Hrm, I'm having a hard time coming up with more! xD; But certainly, I hope I can hang out with my St. Louis friends :D after this it's another six months in Savannah afterall!
3. I wish the dragon key chains I made in the summer could find homes. I hadn't made a big annoucement about it, but since I'm on vacation at the moment, I'd be able to fulfill any orders until January or until supplies run out (yeah right). I suppose one could say that the overstock isn't such a bad thing 'cause I'd be sure to have something during my next Artist Alley... except there's such a small chance of that happening anyway >o< And I can't bring myself to throw the dragons away. But I've hassled anyone who would be interested so much already anyone who hasn't bought one yet definitely doesn't want one >_>; what do I do? *cries* I'm so close to just giving them away for free or whatever, but that wouldn't be fair to the people who'd paid for them.
4. I really wanna fulfill my artsy goals for break! Though... it's not been smooth sailing xD;; I've cut out the modeling for now, so I wanna focus on the comic and Flash at the moment. If I get either project done early, then I'd focus on modeling in Maya. But since my Flash skills are actually lower than my Maya ones, I figured I'd tackle that first. And the comic is very important because I'm president of the comic publishing club! I can't be the first president to not submit something herself. It's gonna feature these two characters.
5. I hope I can learn how to cook the way my Mom does.... seriously, she's really good at cooking southern Chinese food O: but it's not just knowing how to cook. I also need to learn how to shop for food, and knowing things about how to keep food, all sorts of stuff. Fall quarter was so bad with the food! I really need to learn how to make cheap, healthy, easy dishes >>; that taste nice (Surely there's something that fulfills all four of those needs).
6. I MUST BEAT MY PROFESSOR AT FARMVILLE!!! He's at level 41, I'm only at 21... there are a few other kids trying to do this too, so it's like a big race xD; a race of dork.
7. Ah, even though the DK fandom has come to a stand still, thanks to Nikki I know find pairing the little snarky puff of smoke character with the evil albino with a thing for long cloaks the greatest thing since sliced bread. Gah, it's so horrible. Before the summer started I hadn't given either Shydeman or Fedelta a second thought for the most part. And I find it hard to admit that I like them so much, since it pretty much is about the whole master/servant aspect with a relationship that's 3/4s sadism and masochism. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut, if there were to be any fanfic or fanart xD;; Though, it's a very acquired taste. Actually, I don't think I ever "acquired" this taste >>; I've just had it from the get go. 'Tis all about the smexy factor for these two. I'm so weird.
8. I guess I also have a secret dream of having a real Lolita outfit >o>;;; The problem is, I have a feeling I wouldn't get along with most Lolitas but... I like the style a lot. My Aunt works at a Lolita shop in New Zealand and she sent a dress over here... but it only fits my sister xD;; it was meant to be for both of us but yeah... I'm fatter than her. (But at least my boobs are bigger!) Of all the styles, I enjoy... hrm, classic the most perhaps? I don't really like overly sweet, and I can find the monochormatic color schemes pretty boring for gothic sometimes. So, midrange, yes xD
9. ... crab rangoon is my favorite food... (geez, i'm running out of ideas again.)
10. As much as I complain, and rant, and call names, say things like bitch, slut, whore, and sometimes even cunt, it'd make me so happy if I could hear back and learn how things have been. It's been a while and I think by time alone I've mostly gotten over it, and I was the one who put up the wall in the first place, so it isn't fair of me to expect anything. But small as the chance may be, it'd still mean a lot.
