Dear Yuletide Writer,
First of all, thank you so much for doing this exchange! I really appreciate this.
For the most part, I’ve put my DNWs in my sign-up; sometimes I don’t get around to writing these letters and I wanted you to have something to work with. But since it looks like I’m doing this…
In general, I’m a fan of between-the-scenes/panels, character introspection, divergence AUs, hurt/comfort, slice-of-life, fluff, angst, drama, comedy, probably some other stuff I’m leaving out.
However, my comfort zone is typically K thru T. I’m okay with profanity and dark themes, but I don’t really enjoy M-rated violence or sex. For the kidlit fandoms, especially the older stuff, please don’t take the characters into subjects and situations more… mature than the source material would have. Oh, and non-canonical marital infidelity is one of my squicks, so please none of that. I’m okay with romantic pairings where both parties are underage (and things don’t go farther than kissing) and/or where one party is, but the age gap between the two is three years or less. A 17-year-old with a 19-year-old is fine by me. A 13-year-old with an 18-year-old is not. BUT if the 13-year-old is crushing on the 18-year-old, dreams about a relationship, and wishes the object of their affections didn’t just see them as some dorky kid who’s always hanging around? Totally okay with that.
As for the specifics, and reprinting what I put in the sign-up, so it’s all in one spot:
Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgomery
I'm more interested in Anne as a child/teen (i.e. first three books in the series). As long as the story is Anne-centric, feel free to use any other characters, whether nominated or not. School stories, domestic scrapes, family-focused, friend-focused, introspective!Anne, Anne's life before Green Gables... Wide open here!
DNW: situations more adult than Anne canonically got into at this stage. Want to have her taking a walk by the lake of Shining Waters with Gilbert? Have at it! I’m even down for a first kiss, although I’m not sure Montgomery let that happen until Anne was in her 20s! But no tumbles in the hayloft, etc.
Dungeons and Dragons Cartoon
Other characters welcome, too. And you don't have to use everyone I nominated. Give me a standard adventure or something that could have happened between scenes. Another chance to get home? Dealing with what happens when they GET home? Character introspection? I'm there. I ship Hank/Sheila and Eric/Diana. Gen is more than okay.
DNW: Keep it to T-rated or lower. No gore, no explicit sex. Oh, and Uni is cute in moderation, but not center-stage.
Duolingo Welsh Course
I just want to know what is up with this guy and his parsnips! Please feel free to include any other characters, nominated or not. Bonus points for including other material from the course! Tell me about the fine views in Aberystwyth or how beautiful Sioned looks in her wedding dress, when she brings her dog along the canal on a motorbike. The creators of the course put a lot of love and humor into the lessons and I’d love to see that reflected!

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn
I wouldn't mind more scenes from Francie's childhood. Or seeing how she and Neely are coping in the future (Great Depression, WWII, etc). More characters welcome!
DNW: The novel deals with some fairly adult themes, and feel free to go there, but please don't go there more explicitly than the novel did. Not really that interested in seeing Francie as the mother of a precocious ‘mini-her’, but if that’s what interests you, I’ll keep an open mind. No hardcore sex or graphic violence.
Emelan - Tamora Pierce
I adore fics set during Circle of Magic and/or Will of the Empress. I'm a total Sandry fangirl, but really, I love all members of the circle, so as long as Sandry has a few good lines, if you'd rather write something focusing on one of the other three, I'm sure I'll love it anyway. You don't have to use all four characters and you can definitely bring in others.
DNW: Incest (the four see each other as siblings and I guess I do, too.) No explicit sex or gore. Also, no teacher/student, even if set during WotE when all parties are of age.
New Mutants (Comics)
I was a fan of the original New Mutants series from the 80s. Haven't read the later stuff. I hear that Rahne's personality went through some changes, but to me she'll always be the shy, sheltered 13-year-old trying to adjust to her powers and a world away from the narrow-minded minister who raised her. I’m not sure about what changes might have been made to the other characters, but the team I know and love is from the first series (and Graphic Novel).
Training woes, enemies to fight, friendship, romance, angst, h/c. I'm fine with the aftermath of canonical character death, etc. Feel free to include other characters or leave some out.
DNW: Rahne post-Genosha alterations, gore, explicit sex
