Oh, this was awesome and fun, I love stranded castaways stories and you really used it to great effect here.

Bruce sighed. “I… I don’t know. Hate to ask, but… can you take me? I mean… lift? Um… um…” he scowled, struggling to form-or find-the words. “…carry? Me?”

Whew, this moment--not just because of what Clark notices, that he must be out of it if he didn't see the red sunlight, but because of how exhausted and in pain he must be to ask to be carried.

The fire had gone out at some point during the night, and the bat-cowl now stood upside-down, its ears embedded in the sand, a short distance from the embers.

I love this image to death, it's such a great and almost surrealistic thing.

“If it makes a difference, I would have pushed no matter who it was. I mean...” He cast about, trying to find the right words, the words that would make it clear-without sounding patronizing-that he wasn’t lending a shoulder because he thought that Bruce couldn’t cope, but because it pained him that Bruce had to.You kept the balance between them ( ... )

At the end of the day, in the cartoon, he did use that signal watch, and here too, I figured that if the chips were down and it was life-or-death, he'd ask for help. Once he realized that the "help option" was off the table, he didn't give up, though. He soldiered on ( ... )

Thank you! Treading that fine line between "Bruce can be such an idiot sometimes" and "Yeah, but he's still a survivalist" was one of the big challenges here. Glad you enjoyed!
