On Voting

Nov 02, 2006 14:41

In order for a country this large to truly have a "representative society", we would have to vote on neighborhood leaders, and THOSE leaders would vote one of themselves to be town leaders, and THOSE leaders would vote one of themselves to be state leaders, and THOSE leaders would vote one of themselves to be the President. If you had an issue, any issue at all, you'd have ONE local leader to bring it to, and he/she would pass it up the chain if enough of his neighborhood agreed. It's what they tried to do with the Electoral College, but it never learned to expand when the country did.

High level political candidates just lie through their teeth, and we as a country can't say much about it because 1) they all do it, and 2) we don't, CAN'T, know them personally so we can't effectively read between the lines.
