I Love Rock 'n' Roll
ealdthryth acquired a silly movie for us to enjoy last night: Rock of Ages. A bit short on plot, but it was a musical, and it was definitely tounge-in-cheek the whole way through. My sweetie laughed so hard that Josie decided Momma was not a good comfy spot and crawled over onto my lap instead.
We had a pretty good time trying to identify the songs and the original artists. I was a little surprised they didn't have more cameos, but considering the bucks they shelled out for the rights to use the songs they did, there probably wasn't much left over for star appearances.
You Don't Know Beans
Years ago, I abandoned making coffee in the mornings, and our automatic drip coffee maker got re-homed through Goodwill. I hung on to a single-cup filter/funnel apparatus so I could continue to experiment with cordials, and I needed a way to filter out particulates when transferring the product to a bottle.
No thanks to jducoeur, I went out and bought some coffee beans to experiment with cold-brewed coffee. Instead of following my plan, I decided to see if I liked the flavor of the coffee using the hot-water brewing method available to me: grind beans, dump into filter, pour hot water and let it soak and dribble into the mug. So far, so good, but I add a dash of cinnamon to the mocha java grounds for additional flavoring. I think I like it, so I'm willing to take the next step and go for a cold brew version. However, in order to create the cold brew coffee, I think I need to invest in a coffee press. Oddly, and somewhat surprisingly, ealdthryth (who does not imbibe coffee) has agreed to the purchase.

Josie is the most vocally contented kitties I have ever encountered. If she is perched on the back of the couch, we can hear her purr until she falls asleep. If she is in your lap, she purrs almost incessantly--until she falls asleep. Last night, she provided both of us Plush Kitty Endorphins while we watched Rock of Ages. When it was time for bed, she crawled onto my lap and settled down, purring, and she steadfastly refused to leave no matter how much I tried to turn over. MY Comfy Spot!
