Some pictures and a brief railfan report got delivered to me last night, and I spent some time cropping the images and editing the text. It was slightly distressing to find that the article was written as if it were a text message from a smartphone--which it may very well have been. Lots of abbreviations and no capitalization. At least the grammar was correct. Thank goodness I actually know what he's talking about and was able to capitalize proper nouns and unabbreviate the shorthand. Oh, well. I really shouldn't complain--it was a page-and-a-half's worth of content, and it exercised my copy editor skills.
The good thing about the article was it inspired me to dig through some old slides I had converted to digital format, and create a quick space-filling feature: "What is it?". I've got 10 pages for February, so I think I've got a reasonably substantial newsletter to roll out next week.
Nurse Fu
My sweetie came home with a relapse of whatever nasty Norovirus-like stomach bug she had last week. Early in the evening, she decided she was going to sleep on the couch and snuggled under some blankets. Josie curled up on
ealdthryth's lap to purr and snooze and generally perform kitty rieki.
Later, AElfgifu wanted some snuggle time, too, but when she walked up to the couch, preparing to hop up next to me, Josie flattened her ears and hissed at AElf'. AElfgifu looked offended and headed back into the kitchen. Poor baby!
