Yeesh, but I do like to rattle on a bit. 8D;;
----------

Maker help me, what is wrong with me? He would have rubbed his face with both hands, but Devin was holding his left elbow and examining the contusion on his upper arm, where his armor had protected him from a vicious axe swipe but had not managed to dissipate the force of the blow.

"Unpleasant," was the mage's only comment before he began applying the poultice. His touch was surprisingly delicate, given his usually brusque manner, but then, Alistair knew by now that Devin's bark was far worse than his bite; there was a good person in there somewhere beneath all the anger, sarcasm and innuendo. He hazarded a quick glance at the mage-Warden's face as the other man began wrapping the treated area. He was focused on his work, making sure that the bandages lay just so; clearly, he had experience doing this, even if he usually left these tasks for the other mages in their group.

"There," Devin said in satisfaction as he tied the bandage. "Try to flex your arm, see how it stays."

Alistair did as ordered, testing the tightness of the linen bindings. "Well, it's not too tight, but is it tight enough?" He held his arm straight and pulled at the bandages slightly, testing for slack. He didn't find any, and looked up to see Devin smirking at him.

"Questioning my work? Hmph." The mage rose and moved to Alistair's other side to attend to his leg, and Alistair couldn't help tensing slightly in apprehension. He'd somehow gotten a shallow gash across the inside of his thigh; it had been dumb luck that the swipe had been too shallow, or at the wrong angle, to hit the femoral artery. And while he had a new appreciation for Devin's bedside manner, halfway up his thigh was one of the last places he wanted another man's hands, this man's in particular.

He expected Devin to make some sort of off-color comment, but the mage's expression was serious, the very picture of a healer practicing his craft, even if he wasn't. "Hm, this is going to be a little tricky," he mused. "The bandaging, I mean. Here, bend your knee..." With one hand on Alistair's knee and the other on his ankle, he carefully shifted the Templar's leg so that he would be able to wrap the wound with minimal interference. Alistair was forced to lean back slightly, bracing his weight on his hands. He was uncomfortable with the fact that he couldn't have both hands free without falling over, although he couldn't pinpoint exactly why. He could make a few guesses, though.

All right, stay calm. Think really, really boring thoughts, he told himself as Devin slathered the poultice on. Again, the mage's hands were careful, and he did nothing that seemed at all untoward, but Alistair felt himself reacting to the gentle touch, regardless. Andraste's bloody sword! This is all because of that stupid dream!

Much to his horror, it seemed like the more anxious and flustered he felt, the more aroused he became. As Devin started to bandage the wound, Alistair fretted over how the other Warden would react -- he couldn't possibly not notice -- but that only seemed to fuel the problem. Knowing the mage's ...inclinations, it was all too easy to imagine him being not only amused, but pleased.

Whatever might have been going through his mind, however, the other man held his tongue, his expression betraying nothing as he passed the linen over and under Alistair's thigh and smoothed each band of wrapping into place. As the mage tied off the end of the bandage, Alistair began to hope that this whole incident would pass without comment, never to be spoken of again.

That hope was shattered when Devin, finished with his task, ran his fingers lightly from the bandages, across bare skin, to rest on Alistair's knee. "Hmm. If everyone was that appreciative when I patched them up, maybe I'd have been more interested in studying healing," the mage said with a lazy grin, his blue eyes sparking with amusement.

Yeek, sorry this is getting so lengthy. At least they're getting to the good bit? 8Dp
------

Oh, Maker. How do I even-- The Templar could hardly think straight; his thoughts were tripping over each other, just as his words were as he tried to speak out loud. "Er... sorry," he mumbled as he sat up, not looking the other Warden in the eye. "I mean, thanks for the bandaging and all, but sorry for..." What could he even say?

He shifted his leg slightly, moving away from Devin's touch, and reached for his trousers, but a hand intercepted his own, catching his wrist gently. Feeling a hint of panic, Alistair looked up to see Devin right there, leaning over him, too close. He gazed at the Templar for a long moment, and Alistair realized that the mage was giving him a chance to turn away. For that matter, he could easily push Devin aside, gather his things, and leave. He just... wasn't sure he wanted to.

Why? Why can't I just get up and walk away...?

The other Warden smiled slightly, and taking his silence for assent (Isn't it? I could say no... but I can't...), kissed him tentatively, his free hand coming up to caress Alistair's cheek. When the Templar didn't move away, Devin pressed his attack, licking lightly over Alistair's lower lip. It was a startling sensation, but it seemed natural to let the mage deepen the kiss, teasing Alistair's tongue with his own. This felt so unexpectedly sensual -- warm and wet and sort of out of control -- that Alistair let out a soft, surprised moan. He felt, more than heard, Devin's amused sound in response.

"Hmm, I'd've never thought," the other Warden said with a quiet chuckle as they parted, leaving Alistair dizzy and slightly out of breath.

"N-Never thought what?" He was half-afraid of where this was going -- terrified, in fact -- but he couldn't deny that part of him wanted... well, he wasn't even sure what he wanted, but something.

"I'd have never thought I'd get you this far." The mage smirked, and while he was clearly amused, yes, and definitely smug, there was nothing malicious or mocking in his expression now. "Shall we venture a little further?" he murmured, releasing Alistair's wrist and running his hand lightly up the Templar's arm.

Alistair shivered slightly, unsure of how to answer for a moment. "I... I don't know, I mean..." He didn't want to say yes, but neither could he bring himself to say no.

Devin seemed to understand his hesitance, and smiled with only a hint of teasing. "You decide how far is too far, then," he said gently. "Just say the word, and we'll stop." With this rule in place, the mage kissed him again, one arm snaking around Alistair's shoulders to hold him close and the other hand pressed against his chest.

Suddenly feeling the need to touch the other man, Alistair tentatively reached up to grasp Devin's arm lightly, the fur trim on the mage's shoulders unexpectedly soft as it brushed over his fingers. His other hand slid to the complex ties and buckles at Devin's waist, and he wondered for a distracted moment how in the world he was going to get all of that undone, even as part of him still shied away from the thought of doing so.

The mage broke away from the kiss with a quiet chuckle. "Here, let me." He nudged Alistair's hand out of the way slightly, and started untying laces and unbuckling belts. His movements were measured and slow; Alistair realized that the man was giving him a chance to to observe the proper order of unfastening, and he felt his face growing hot. The idea that he'd need that information again...

With all of the ties undone, Devin's robes hung loosely, ready to be slid off at any moment. For the few moments it took the mage to pull off his boots, Alistair simply watched him, noting things he'd never really paid attention to before. He hadn't realized, for instance, that Devin was quite so slender beneath all of that fabric; the mage's body was unexpectedly toned -- did they do physical training in the Tower? He had no idea -- but he still was obviously no warrior. Still, there was nothing unattractive about that...

Maker. Is this another dream? Alistair fretted. If it isn't... if this is really happening...

So delicious! Passerby anon does not mind length; on the contrary, this anon enjoys this leisurely pace!

and I must say, 'fretted' is really the perfect verb for Alistair!

omg finally done. Sorry this got so ridiculously long! I blame Alistair.
------------

Devin interrupted his thoughts with another kiss, but their lips met only briefly before the mage turned his attentions elsewhere, moving down Alistair's neck with a series of little bites that made the Templar shiver reflexively. He reached up to slowly push Devin's robes off, but found himself suddenly gripping the other man's shoulders as Devin swirled his tongue around Alistair's left nipple. That felt... strange, but it was nothing compared to the jolt that ran through his body when the mage blew softly on the spot, his breath cool over wet skin. Alistair couldn't hold back a startled "Maker!", and he felt Devin's quiet laugh, a warm exhalation against his chest, as the other man moved to the right to give that side the same treatment.

The Templar couldn't help leaning back now, loosing his hold on Devin so that he could hold himself upright. Even that much was getting increasingly difficult, with the mage kissing a trail down his chest and stomach, but the touch of the other man's tongue at Alistair's navel was the last straw. With Devin's hands at his hips a subtle encouragement, he lay back, still a little reluctant to do so. It wasn't that he didn't trust the other Warden, but this was...

There was a brief moment of fumbling, mostly on Alistair's part, as Devin gently tugged off his smallclothes -- the mage's were off already, when had that happened? -- but before the Templar could dwell on the fact that they were both completely naked, Devin resumed his leisurely tour of Alistair's body, tracing with his tongue down one side of the V of muscle at the warrior's hip. From there, he nipped playfully at the inside of Alistair's thighs, the unfamiliar feeling of teeth there sending shudders up the Templar's spine and causing him to clutch at the grass under his hands.

In all this time, Devin hadn't once touched Alistair there, except for incidental brushes of his hand or his hair or the side of his face that were driving the Templar a little mad. He wanted more... direct contact, but was far too embarrassed to ask for it, especially from the clearly more experienced mage. How... how do you even say something like that?

Fortunately, he was spared from having to figure that out -- at least for the moment -- as Devin's hand brushed along his hardness, his touch tentative, curious. Even that much was enough to arouse Alistair even further, and he fought to keep from arching into the touch. Still, the mage noted the way he tensed, and if Alistair hadn't been flushed already, he would have turned red at the look Devin gave him, amused and knowing and inviting all at once. The other Warden flashed him a wicked grin, startlingly like in his dream, and he knew what was coming a moment before he felt the man's tongue running up his length. A small sound caught in the back of his throat, something like a whimper, as lips pressed against the very tip, and then--

"Maker's Breath--!" he gasped as Devin took him into his mouth. The dream he'd had, the shameful imaginings since then -- none of it compared to this, the warmth and wetness and the mage's clever tongue, teasing him in ways he'd never thought of before. The last of his reluctance finally fell away; he could barely think coherently at all as Devin began to move his head up and down at a steady pace, and the small portion of his mind still working properly was more concerned with not peaking too soon than with guilt.

He didn't know how long he could last, though. He was already trembling with the effort of not thrusting up -- that seemed like it would be unpleasant for Devin -- but the mage grasped his hips in a way that seemed meant to urge him on, and he finally gave in to instinct. He'd expected the other man to pull back in response, but somehow Devin took him in deeper (How is that even possible? the Templar wondered dizzily), and he knew he was on the verge of losing it.

"Devin," he said breathlessly, reaching down to push the mage away, "stop."

The mage did stop, but he pulled away with excruciating slowness. His tongue prodded the sensitive spot underneath the head of his shaft, and that nearly undid the Templar; he let out a sound that was almost pained as he hastily pushed Devin away a little harder than he intended to.

"What's wrong?" the other Warden asked as he sat up, his face slightly flushed from his efforts. Thankfully, he looked more amused at the interruption than offended.

"I..." Alistair was short of breath, and his pulse was racing; he wondered if Devin could hear it. "I was about to..."

The mage smirked slightly. "I know. That's sort of the point."

"But... I mean, you..." he didn't quite know how to say what he meant to say, that he didn't think Devin wanted that in his mouth, but then he realized that the mage knew exactly what he was doing, and either he expected that and would have pulled away, or...

His expression must have given away some of what he was thinking, because the mage laughed out loud. "Ah, but you're such a gentleman, Alistair," he said with a grin as he leaned over the Templar, one hand planted on either side of Alistair's shoulders. "Don't worry, I know precisely--" and as he spoke, he leaned a little lower, letting his length brush against Alistair's "--what I'm getting into."

The sensation was unbelievable, and the Templar's hands went immediately to Devin's hips, though he was torn between pulling the other man closer and pushing him away. The mage chuckled and looked him in the eye, a challenge. "Well... would you like to try something different?" he murmured.

"Something... different?" Alistair echoed nervously, trying to concentrate on Devin's words and not the feel of his...

"Hmm, yes..." The mage pulled away and sat back, taking Alistair's hands in his own and levering him up into a sitting position once more. "Would you care to put your sword to good use, Ser Knight?" He leaned back slightly, resting his weight on his hands, and smirked his wicked little smirk as Alistair's eyes traveled down his torso.

He couldn't help it; Devin was obviously displaying himself, and it was almost impossible not to look. But the other man's words finally sunk in, and he was torn between almost painful eagerness and uncertainty. "Devin... I..."

Devin looked at him questioningly, but when Alistair said nothing further, he chuckled quietly and sat up. "Ah... is that a no?" he said in a mock-disappointed tone, even as he reached out to run his fingers lightly along the Templar's arousal.

Alistair's breath caught, and for a moment he couldn't find his voice. "I... I don't... I mean, I've never... I'm not sure what to do," he finally managed to say. But Devin knew that already, didn't he?

"Well..." The mage drew away, reaching for his satchel and drawing out a small vial of some clear liquid. "How else will you ever learn?" he pointed out with a devilish grin.

"What... is that?" Alistair eyed the vial. Some of Zevran's idle comments about massages came to mind, but he didn't think that was what Devin was planning at this point...

The other man smirked in reply, saying only, "Watch."

And watch the Templar did, reluctantly at first, then in guilty fascination, as Devin poured some of the liquid onto his fingers and then proceeded to touch himself, sliding first one finger, then another, into himself with evident pleasure. As Alistair finally realized that the mage was making himself ready for him, he groaned quietly in anticipation; Devin looked up at the sound and grinned as he met the Templar's eyes.

"See to your sword, Ser Knight," he murmured, eyes bright as he watched to see what Alistair would do. Hesitantly, the warrior took the vial and poured some of the contents into his hand; the stuff was almost unnaturally slippery -- but then, that was the point, wasn't it? Setting the vial aside, he rubbed the liquid onto himself, resisting the urge to continue stroking more than he needed to. When he looked up again, Devin had finished his own preparations and was watching him with a pleased, catlike smirk. Seeing that Alistair was ready, he lay back and beckoned for the Templar to come to him.

Alistair was at once both eager and awkward, but Devin skilfully guided him in; the heat and the tightness pulled a wordless exclamation from him, and he wondered for a moment if he'd be able to move. The mage, however, showed him otherwise, grinding his hips against Alistair's in a way that made the Templar push back. Gradually, the motions came more naturally, and the world narrowed to this, the indescribable sensation of being buried deep inside of the other man, as Devin continued to encourage him with his hands and hips and voice.

Sooner than the Templar would have liked, he felt himself getting close to climax again; he instinctively shifted to thrust deeper into Devin, but the mage welcomed it. Laughing breathlessly, he reached between them and began to stroke himself, leaving Alistair wishing for half a moment that he didn't need both of his hands to prop himself up. He tried to force himself to slow down, to let Devin reach his peak first, but the mage's obvious pleasure -- the roll of his hips, the soft, but ardent, sounds he made, the way he tightened slightly around Alistair -- were enough to drive the Templar over the edge, and he cried out hoarsely as he came, rocking hard against the other man.

Barely two breaths later, he was caught by surprise when Devin's free hand snaked up to pull him down into an urgent kiss. The mage's body went rigid against him for a fraction of a moment, and then he moaned into Alistair's mouth as he shuddered in release.

They lay tangled together, panting for breath, for several long moments. Alistair gradually became aware of twinges of pain from his wounds; they probably hadn't gone so far as reopening, but the strain on his muscles hadn't been good for them, surely. Carefully, he pulled away and sat up, looking down at Devin. With his eyes closed and face relaxed, the mage looked much younger and considerably more vulnerable. But considering what the other Warden had just pulled him into, maybe "vulnerable" wasn't exactly the right word...

"I think I need a bath now," Devin said with a slight smirk, his eyes still closed.

"I think we both do," Alistair muttered, his self-consciousness beginning to kick in again.

"Well, then, we'd best get on with it." The mage finally sat up and grinned mischievously at his fellow Warden. "This is a terribly convenient little spot, isn't it? We'll have to remember it the next time we come through this way..."

The implication made Alistair's face grow hot.

end.
