I am surprised that I have been keeping up with the sunrise yoga at 7-8 every MWF. Maybe later in the semester I might sacrifice one or two of the classes for other time requirements, but I'm hoping to stick with it. Sam - I will try to record more of the classes and see if I can email the files to you... I just need to load the program onto my computer.
For those of you who have never heard Ravel's "Tzigane," you should get on that. ;) There's a massive 4 min violin cadenza in the beginning, but once you get past the boring stuff (joke: none of this piece is boring ^_^) there's a 16 second harp cadenza, which is to be played -- and I quote-- "at lightning speed." No specific tempo marking, just as fast as you can possibly play, if not faster. I really want to be able to do that this spring in the concert... EDIT: btw - the 16 second harp cadenza is written out over 2 pages. Yeah, it's fast.
Quiz in music history today. Fun fact: Hasse was married to Faustina: Italian diva primadonna opera star, who habitually bitchslapped any female singer that got more applause/arias/fame than she did.
Ceramics is progressing, not as far as I would have liked by today, but we'll fix that in class this morning. EDIT: Bugger. after working in ceramics, there was so much water in my fingers that I accidentally rubbed off a few layers of skin on my right forefinger callus. Fortunately it doesn't hurt and I can still play fine. I'll be more careful in the future.
And I found out that beginning Ancient Egyptian Language and Civilization of Ancient Egypt is very likely to be taught next semester. hee hee hee.
