Walking into the theatre, I was afraid that the singing would get in the way of the acting, but no, it was nicely incorporated and made sense. Brilliant. Lots of blood, but Burton's choice of making the blood theatrically red made it so it wasn't just a gore-flick - and also recalled the Broadway roots. I also love that the actors did all their own singing. I prefer the untrained, natural voice to the operatic, vibratolicious sort of singing. Very nice. There was also like a grab-bag of British actors, which is very amusing.

The music was brilliant... wonderful not-in-your-face sort of lyrics. Bravo!

The only one I didn't like was that stupid sailor dude. But it was hilarious because he only had one melodic line to sing for the whole thing, so it musically reflected his shallowness and lack of depth. It was a pretty line though.
