So my harp professor is playing with the MSO this Saturday for a Prokofiev(??) ballet (well, maybe it's not one of his... I can't remember)
They had.....
....
....
3 total rehearsals. Two with the pit alone, and one with the dancers. There is a guest conductor, and he hadn't seen the choreography until the rehearsal with the dancers last night.
I would love to be able to do that!!! Karen(my prof.) was looking through her 170-odd pages of music this morning, doing a cram-study session of her part--and the best thing is that she can actually pull this off. Give her a book of wierd complicated music, and she can basically play it in a recital next weekend if you wanted.
Cool.
Something to work towards in my imaginary checklist of goals: "Be able to basically sightread and perform an entire ballet with a pit." That would be fun.
