classes...

I'm currently waiting for a part of my rubber mold to set, so I have about 20 minutes to kill before pouring a plaster mother mold.

So - Class discussion!
I'm not in as much of a dilemma as previous semesters, but there are some tough decisions that may have to be made.

Definite classes:
Serigraphy (screenprinting) - I've always wanted to learn how to screenprint :) plus it is something that I can incorporate into ceramics as well (you can print with slip onto slabs of clay and do stuff with them)
Advanced Sculpture - Prof. Georgiades said that I could skip sculpture 1 and go straight to advanced! I would like to work with fiberglass casting, like I'm doing now at the shop.

Art classes that I'm trying to decide between:
Advanced Ceramics II - I will be doing a slip casting and mold making workshop this summer that the university is paying for... so I would feel kind of bad for not taking ceramics after that. Also, I want to maintain studio access b/c ceramics is awesome. Trouble is, it meets at the same time as the comparative world dress class.
Computer Imaging Techniques - a continuation of the computer art class that I took last year - it would give me the opportunity to work on tablet art as well as learn basic flash programing for incorporating into websites. This class also doesn't have a ton of outside work.
Intro to the Art of Gaming - it sounds like it would be fun, and also give me the opportunity to draw character designs for credit... and I think it also goes into designing regular games (like making a mock board game and designing all the bits for it)

Other classes:
Comparative World Dress - this would fulfill the last of my social science credit requirements, plus it might give me an excuse to draw some of the designs, i.e. learn how to draw decent clothing!
Doctors and Delusions: Madness and Medicine 1750s to the present - it sounds really cool and it would also fulfill the social science requirements, though I don't know if I would be able to dedicate enough time to a short paper per week plus two 4 page papers and a 10 page research paper while doing art stuff.
Harp lessons - yes. This is on the board right now... which I feel terrible about. I still want to play in masterclass and do harp ensemble stuff, but if you sign up for lessons you have to be in orchestra, which I don't know if I want to continue to commit that large chunk of time. I can talk to my prof about doing lessons on the side and maintaining harp room access... but I don't know if she'll go for that. Next semester I'm going to do a joint recital with my clarinet teacher, doing clarinet/harp stuff (there's a really cool piece called Victorian gardens or something or other for harp and clarinet that I want to learn) and I also want to be able to do harp ensemble stuff too... it's a tough call, and I'm not sure yet.

Oh, btw - for folks in town, my senior recital is on April 29th, at 6:30 at St. Francis House, which is on University :)
Rep on the program (may be subject to change):

(have to decide on an intro piece...)
Kanga's "American Sketches" - harp and clarinet (Bethany)
Rachmaninov's "Vocalise" - harp and violin (Tiffany)
Opus something blabla by Tchaikovksy - harp duet w/ Margaret

Grandjany's "Fantaisie on a Theme from Haydn" - harp solo (the only solo thing I'll be doing, haha)
Andres' "La Ragazza" - harp duet w/ Mandy
Foote's "At Dusk" - harp, flute cello (Colleen, Jon)

Possibly "Variations on an Imaginary Folk Tune" - harp and flute - I'm going to be playing this for the contemporary chamber ensemble concert... so if it sounds good I might as well do it here too.

I've decided not to do the Mozart harp and flute concert b/c I dislike the way he writes for harp (I like his clarinet stuff, I just don't like playing this piece at all). It makes me sad that I won't be playing something with Sergio, but I'll try to look up stuff for harp and bassoon (his new instrument) that we can play next semester.
