A semi-class review, semi-glee moment that I'm actually getting things done!
Painting will be a very good class as far as learning technique, and while I was nervous at first (having never really painted before) I think it will be a lot of fun. Sadly, there are no "real" oil paints allowed b/c of chemical sensitivity, so I had to buy a whole new set of water-soluble oils. Mark my words, that won't prevent me from experimenting with Grandma Vel's oil paints that I have.
My first project in that class (we're doing gray scales)
This is from a picture that I took in an aquarium on Pier 39 (they allowed cameras w/o flash).
We're getting there... yay jellies
I've been staying for a couple hours in ceramics for the past few days, throwing 20 cups and one tiny bowl in 2 days, and I attached handles to half of them tonight. Productivity makes me happy!
I decided (after a long talk with myself about what I should really be focusing on) to take Business of Art instead of Ancient Egyptian, 2nd semester, because the art class is about practicing talking about art, and specifically your own work, whether in a job interview or as a visiting artist or during a workshop, etc. I think it will be really helpful in figuring out how to sort out my often contradictory viewpoints on art, especially in the contemporary scene.
Harp and orchestra are fiiiiine... I do have to play the opera this year. Poo. During the busiest time of the year... isn't that wonderful. I'm also planning to do my senior recital this semester and hopefully put together a senior show? That might go on hold until fall, but I'll shoot for it.
