Art Post: "The Contest" for journeystory
This is going to be one of those rare, LJ only entries!
Hey there! This is one of two posts for x_disturbed_x's story "The Contest", which was created for journeystory Big Bang. You can read the story right here.
Sorry for the quality of this post: I'm tired and still recovering from the con bug.
Also, I couldn't get access to my scanner today (so these were taken with my cellphone), and it turns out that my tablet pen IS INDEED not working after the dog chewed on it, so these pictures couldn't be fixed up just yet. So I'll likely be replacing them soon. Going to have to go over them in pen and then scan them.
Here you have Coretta, the main character of the story. All I really know is that she wore her hair up fancy at first, then tore it down and kicked some butt at archery, and then wore it in a ponytail for the rest of the story. I liked to imagine that she had freckles I HAVE A THING FOR FRECKLES I'M NOT SORRY She's 16, and forced into watching a competition that will decide her husband for her -- but of course she doesn't want to take that lying down (thus the butt kicking in archery).
This is Nyles and a;slfj he's precious and my favorite character and I secretly ship him with Coretta even though we all know it doesn't really work that way. He's Coretta's best friend and the younger brother of one of her "suitors". Because I was at a convention while drawing this, I had Jack Frost's hair on the brain -- even though it flopped a bit more than intended. The top left picture is him teasing Coretta about him being taller, sorry it's a bit blurred. The bottom right, though, is him blushing and THAT CAME OUT PERFECTLY FINE yes good
Nyles shook his head. “Only you would try to push the limit, Coretta.”
“Oh do be quiet.”
He grinned and then gestured to her dress. “You do look… lovely today.”
“Stop it! I know I look terrible but it is no need to rub it in.”
“I only mean you look uncomfortable. Takes away from it really.”
This is Nyles and Coretta being adorable. They're talking before she has to go in and confront everyone over dinner. This was originally going to be the cover of the FST, only I then realized I can't use my tablet pen to redraw it, so it's just going to be an extra picture.
Keep an eye out over at hellobetafish in order to see the mix when it goes up tomorrow! I am too tired to deal with formatting right now.
