I don't know how many times I think about writing in my blog...and then don't. Part of it's because I know that I tend to be verbose and that instead of quick, simple posts, I just tend to keep writing and writing. Oh, well. I'm blogging again now. I'd like to get at least one entry a week in here. We'll see how that goes. [Side note- I think it might help if I knew more people were reading what I wrote, as that would encourage to make sure they have something to read. It's funny how I'll check various other people's blogs on a daily or every few days basis but don't write in mine anywhere near that often]
Anyway. I stayed up way too late last night reading. I didn't intend to. It just happened. Let's put it this way. I heard my roommate get up and start getting ready for bed before my eyes couldn't stay open any longer and I had to put the book down.
I got into bed last night about 1:30am, which is in the general range of when I head to bed, after which I usually read for half an hour to an hour. Well... last week I received my copy of John Ringo and Travis S. Taylor's
Claws that Catch.
It's the latest novel in the Into the Looking Glass series (Into the Looking Glass, Vorpal Blade, Manxome Foe, and Claws that Catch), a very good series that I have had a lot of fun reading. They're Science Fiction, and that's definitely Science with a capital S. They are definitely hard science books. There's all sorts of stuff in them that are way above my head because I don't have the background knowledge in radioactive elements/fission/fusion, astronomy, physics, engineering, sub-atomic particles, and quantum physics. Which is great, because it makes me stop and think. Well, maybe I don't stop too much, but that's because the stories are so well written and full of action that I don't want to put them down. Which is why I was up until after 5am this morning, and why I didn't get anything done before work this "morning" like practicing trumpet, doing dishes, or putting my laundry away, since I started reading the last bit of the book I didn't manage to finish last night and didn't stop reading until I had finished the whole thing, which was right before I had to get ready for work.
Oh, well. It was a really good book and worth it. Though I do have several things I need to get done tomorrow before work now to make up for it.
