Ooops...
So tonight I found out that my driver's side brake light/turn signal light was out...when I made a turn in front of a police officer and he pulled me over (at the thrift store that I was pulling into to shop anyway).
I then found out that when my insurance auto-renewed from the previous policy, I was stupid enough to not get the cards immediately into my truck and they got lost in the stacks of papers around my room at that time (I just found them in the box of papers that need to get sorted into the filing cabinet).
Luckily, he was a very nice cop (which was not hindered by me, since my parents raised me to know how to be very polite, courteous, and respectful, and in situations like that, I guarantee that the smart ass personality I enjoy using gets buried VERY deep), and let me go with just warnings and a reminder that this could get my truck towed. So as soon as I leave the house tomorrow morning, I'm carrying my current insurance card out with me and driving the three blocks up the street to the auto parts store located conveniently close to my house to replace the burnt out bulb. I am very thankful for the nice cops out there that don't punish me for my unawareness and sometimes stupidity (when they are minor enough not to be very dangerous as in this situation and they couple of times that I have pulled over before, luckily also without ever receiving a ticket, except parking ones...).
